Although thinking about it Kim Hughes wept like a little girl also, so it is clearly nothing new in Australian culture, men crying.Real men cry and let their emotions show. You'd have to be an archaic dinosaur suffering from toxic masculinity to think something contrary.
FixedI see you're not familiar with humour
Happens you're right. I re-read your post after NZT posted that.........had to call an ambulance as I laughed so hard my **** fell off.Fixed
Having played in a side with a twice convicted ball tamperer as skipper, Kyle is in a good position to know.Kyle Abbot is another one who thinks the idea that nobody else knew in the team is a load of bollocks.
Not really a surprise from him though.Punter thinks the culture is hunky-dory

I know. But I've gotten a lot of "See even Ponting thinks the culture thing has been blown out of proportion" comments on my social feeds. I mean C'mon.Maybe I just need new friends. Not really a surprise from him though.
This just makes me think that the elevation of Warner to VC has gotten a lot of criticism now but I reckon CA were figuring he would mature as is required by the role as Ponting did.Punter thinks the culture is hunky-dory

Yea always felt that the decision to promote Warner was so that CA could reap the best out of him. It's a little sad how all this ended up because while Warner had a terrible reputation he was trying to correct some of his behavior like you've said..This just makes me think that the elevation of Warner to VC has gotten a lot of criticism now but I reckon CA were figuring he would mature as is required by the role as Ponting did.
Easy to forget now but Ponting in the 1995-2001 period got into trouble multiple times off the field, could be abrasive and a hothead on the field and was underachieving in relation to his talent.
But once he was made ODI captain in 2002 it was a major turning point for him. He seemed to relish the responsibility and he became a great batsman. And in terms of behaviour he had his abrasive and controversial moments as captain , generally he matured in the role and imo the Oz sides of the Ponting era were generally better behaved than under any other Oz captain this century.
And until this summer, it looked as if Warner was heading down the same path. He'd stayed out of behavioural trouble for 3 years or so and seemed to have matured and more significantly, clearly seemed to be a more natural captain than Smith was. The permanent T20 and perhaps even ODI captaincy was there for the taking in the very near future. But of course the decision to become 'attack dog' at the start of the Ashes was to prove a major error and while he obviously has to take the blame for that, the likes of Lehmann should as well.
