Jesus, Cook 13.80, behind Nathan Lyon. All four Aussie bowlers way ahead of England's best averager who is Anderson 8 at 34.88. Do not look at M. Ali's statistics - I warn you: they are of Yasir Shah proportions!!
Where ya getting those stats? After today's play Anderson has 12@25.8, while Cummins has 9@34.33

Broad is averaging 62 and Moeen is averaging 105, for those not bothered to look it up. I can't say I actually expected Moeen to be any more effective than this.

Very hard to escape the impression that Cook's done. Melbourne and Sydney might be slightly kinder but I just don't see him getting going.

I think there's a <5% chance that there'll be enough rain to allow England to get a draw. After one of the current pair go I expect the rest to go down like the first innings.

If I were English I'd be perfectly fine with Anderson this tour. Is be very worried about Broad though. Even under lights when Anderson was bending it around corners Broad looked rubbish.

Anderson and Overton have been by far the best pom bowlers.

Batting-wise, Vince and Stoneman have had flashes of brilliance but both keep getting out in predictable ways. They need to tighten up outside off.

Cook looks shot. He's in that form slump so many batsmen get in their early 30s when their eye goes and they have to work really hard to find runs for the rest of their careers. It'd be sad to see if he wasn't a pom.

Malan has looked by far the batter who most wants to fight for his runs. His first innings effort this test was really good and he could make himself man of the match tomorrow if he can bat out the draw.

Ali has been woeful. He's been a genuine tail ender so far.

On the Australian side, Warner has been good without being great. Bancroft has been very ordinary so far. Needs a score before the end of the series to hold his place.

Khawaja hasn't been bad but hasn't been in quite the form I thought he was in leading up to this series. Could move to partner Warner if Bancroft continues to fail and we bring in Maxwell.

Smith is just Smith. Never seen anyone so good before. Doubt I'll ever see anyone this good again. He just keeps getting better.

Shaun Marsh has probably made his last runs off the series and I'm fine with that now. If we start losing he'll be on the chopping block ala Voges last year. He has been impressive so far.

Mitch Marsh has surprised everyone with his innings. I was hoping for him to hit a 50 as a kind of best case scenario. 181 is insane and I really hope he can continue his good form going forwards. I've probably been the most vocal about his selection but I'm very happy for him to prove me wrong. Having a #6 who can bowl will be amazing for team balance going forward.

Paine has been quite impressive so far. Probably the least controversial pick inasmuch as the other options were all rubbish, but has so far repayed the selectors faith. If he can get the occasional half century and do well with the gloves then he's a good shot at being the full time keeper for a couple of years until Inglis or Peirson can start beating down the door.

I expected Moeen to average more than 60 with the ball and less than 30 with the bat but he is comfortably doing both at present which is alarming. Had high hopes of Broad thinking the break may do him good and he was very good on the last to Australia but he has been useless and his time is looking up though I reckon he will play in New Zealand anyway.

Funny thing is Broad moved it quite a bit during that spell. He just didn't seem to have the control at all and bowled too short and way too wide. I'm surprised to see that his series economy rate is as low as it is (lower than Ears Hazlewood's), but he just has not been remotely threatening. He barely even seems to be present.

Yep, his MO right now seems to be wide outside off. He really looks out of sorts. His speeds haven't fallen from his peak so maybe there is something technical that's going on with his wrist position that's causing him to spray it around.

If only I hadn't already mentioned it maybe four or five times this series.

Yeah I expected Moeen to do badly because pretty much all but the cleverest (not necessarily best) finger spin bowlers get murdered down here, with 40 being a perfectly acceptable average over a Test series for a visiting offie. But >100 is ridiculous; I definitely expected him to pick up more poles by batsmen (Warner) trying to whack him out of the ground and lobbing it to long on or some dumb **** like that. Mind you, I wasn't expecting the Australian batsmen to be as disciplined as they have been thus far.

Really thought he could do better with the bat though. That's been a huge disappointment with Stokes missing.

Huge innings for him tomorrow.

He has been ****-tacular with the bat. His whole rather lackadaisical approach to batting stands out when almost everyone else is really getting stuck in, his dismissal the other day was pitiful.

Chris Rogers mentioned today that he noticed that he had really changed his bowling method compared to how Rogers remembered it; rather than delivering from wide on the crease and trying to seam the ball away, he seemed to be trying to swing it back in. Whether that's the technical thing mentioned by Starfighter or a conscious change of approach, I don't know.

Yeah, Broad kept it tight in the first two Tests and I thought he was the best of England's bowlers in Brisbane. But he tailed off in Adelaide and he was woeful here.
Yeah and it's particularly bad for England because Perth of all Tests was the venue they were going to need non-Anderson bowlers to step up at if they were to be any chance of winning.

I managed to make it to the ground yesterday and today. Two fantastic days of cricket for anyone who loves the game. Smith's double hundred. Marsh's almost double hundred yesterday. A lot of wickets taken by both sides today. Really entertaining cricket :) I was really happy for Mitch Marsh to make the score that he did. As I have mentioned before, I always hope that young talent finds success. From any team.

It is absolutely sheeting down here at the moment. I live about 5 minutes walk from the WACA, and the wind and rain is as bad as anything we normally see in winter. I would imagine the biggest problem in the morning will be drying the outfield. If it is a normal Perth weather front, then heavy, blustery, rain will come along every hour or two. It will be challenging, under the current system, to get any play going at all. Or... It blows itself out tonight. Which is my quiet hope. Weather forecasting is very hit and miss in Australia.

I have felt very lucky to see the kind of cricket I have over the last two days :) The WACA is a very intimate ground compared to most others these days. Not that I am going to miss it when it is gone :D And I probably have a whole bunch of other contentious and negative opinions to get out of my system. But, for now, I just want to bask in two very enjoyable days of cricket. I think everyone who posts regularly on this thread would have really enjoyed it :)

The guy got bounced out in India on flat pitches, it was always going to happen.

Why has big Vern bowled as good as he has for the lack of pace he has at the WACA ?

Sure no 5-fors but a 4-wicket-haul and RPO of 3.43, 1.95, 2.89 & 2.50 & figures of 9/207 which is a average of 23.00

Not sure if he got it to reverse or used the cracks with his accuracy.

I think Moeen has mostly got out to Lyon before this last (soft) dismissal.
