Adelaide is ****ing awesome!! Sadly not going this year but I have been to the the last 2 Ashes tests over there so before and after the renovations...........it's a really great place to watch cricket Burgey.

100% agree with you on the Gabba......**** hole, been once and would never bother again. Yet to get to the SCG so can't comment, but I will say that Adelaide is by far the favourite test for the majority of my Barmy Army mates.
I meant Adelaide the city, not the ground. The ground is amazing (was before the renos, haven't been since).

This must be wrong, I have it on good authority that Australian pitches are the only ones in the world that aren't prepared to favour the home side
And I have it on even better authority that it doesn't rain in England in June.

Aren't you from Britain? Or do you mean it's easier to get a direct flight to Sydney?
Have lived in Aus for 24 years....genuinely surprised that you haven;t picked up on that before.

Are you going to give me a "Love it or Leave" spiel now

Won't defend the Gabba when it's empty. But it's pretty amazing when full.

I saw the Windies play in Adelaide a few years back while the renovations were happening. I got sunburned from the glare and was freezing my arse off both days in the Chappell stands. And bloody Watson got out for 96 just before I walked in.

.
Well it was pretty full when I was there in 2002......the crowd was absolutely feral. Apologies for the obligatory dig but I don't rate Aussie crowds highly at all (amazing how you get so many bogans in one place at one time) but the Brisbane crowd is by far the worst I've ever come across.

Cricket you get the bogans, soccer you get the, uh, "mediterranean" sorts. It's all pretty bad.

Go to a badminton match, the Asians are pretty well behaved

Englishman goes to Australia, can't handle quality, incisive banter from convicts in the crowd.

Many such cases.

I can only think the reason Finn kept getting picked over the years was that the ECB believed ''he could be their Mitchel Johnson''.

Bayliss cannot even be arsed to watch a county match. He is a T20 merchant. Like Strauss and the rest of the ecb he is only interested in bish bash bosh cricket. Still, he is no worse than the selectors. Northeast made 110 and 67 in Chester-le - in the North East (sorry, I had to put that in) - in September, yet still the selectors pick Ballances, Malans, Westleys and Dawsons. Northeast could literally break Lara's 501 record against the twin attack of Micheal Holding and Joel Garner at the 1970s WACA and the selectors would go, ''nah, we prefer Malan and Westley''. There is now nothing the guy can conceivably do. He must have shagged one of their wives?
The bloke doesn't average 40 playing 2nd division cricket. Maybe that might be the clue as to why he's not been picked?

Remember at the start of the season when S Kennedy was hating on the selectors for not picking Westley and Stoneman, now the continued thing for Northeast, presumably because of his name.

Cricket banter is great when people get it right, excruciating when you get it wrong. I find Edgbaston to almost always be cretinous, but hey Brummies.
