Easily. Only Lord's has more history, and it's a postage stamp with a small capacity. SCG is the perfect sized playing arena and mixes old and new architecture. The MCG was great, now it's just another concrete bowl. It's the Gabba on steroids.

Besides, I quite enjoy making use of the jacuzzi and steam room before a spot of tennis and wandering over to the game. You don't get that anywhere else.

That would be a very very strong side. Add in Lyon, Pattinson and Starc to the bowling mix and it would be a hell of a squad. The reserve batting would be a tad dodgy though.
Irritatingly, people like Khawaja, Burns and Maxwell are likely to do just fine in a series in Australia and travel badly. Whereas the holes in our batting lineup don't even hold up at home.

Worst international cricket ground in Australia is the Gabba. It's terrible now. I mean, it's in Brisbane so its always been awful, but it used to have a bit of character with the Cricketer's Club and the dish lickers' track. Now it's just a salad bowl. Terrible place to watch cricket compared to 20 or so years back.

Each of the others has something to offer though, imo. Adelaide was awesome to watch cricket (haven't been post-redevelopment but frothing to go, looks amazing). Perth had a unique deck and some decent hills to sit on. Plus there's a large local Saffer expat population, and we all know what that means in terms of quality of spectator. #MCGso big, has a great atmosphere when it's full, which it often is because the test is right on holiday time and because there's no beaches in Melbourne for people to go to when it's hot, besides which Victorians would turn up to the opening of an envelope. Bellerive is very picturesque with the reiver in the background, and the locals having two heads means they can double up on the crowd count.

Outside those grounds, I really rate Birchgrove Oval, but hey, insular peninsula all the way babeh.

$75 for a day, fmd. Including student concession.
The major problem with the SCG, and it's exacerbated for the travelling fan when you throw in the ridiculous cost of accommodation and everything else. I live a lot closer to Sydney than I do Adelaide but I can do 5 days in Adelaide for a fraction of the price I can Sydney.

Yeah, but adelaide. I mean, come on.

You're paying premium rates over new year in Sydney, mind. It's a crazy time of year to be stumping up for accommodation.

Anyway, **** you Shri. I offered you a seat in the Members for a day and you said you wanted to watch with the heathen swine.

Aren't you from Britain? Or do you mean it's easier to get a direct flight to Sydney?

Over prepare your pitches and start using Kookaburra balls. Without sideways movement you might find the problem goes away.

Adelaide is ****ing awesome!! Sadly not going this year but I have been to the the last 2 Ashes tests over there so before and after the renovations...........it's a really great place to watch cricket Burgey.

100% agree with you on the Gabba......**** hole, been once and would never bother again. Yet to get to the SCG so can't comment, but I will say that Adelaide is by far the favourite test for the majority of my Barmy Army mates.

This must be wrong, I have it on good authority that Australian pitches are the only ones in the world that aren't prepared to favour the home side

Wait, you were serious? I am in if the offer still stands. I'll gift my ticket to my brother so that he can watch it to.
