Ballance was found out at international level years ago. Bowl fullish at the stumps.
Alright, give him yet another run - by all means - but why should Ballance get yet another run based on county form when the likes of Northeast, Rocky, Borthwick, Westley are completely overlooked? I do not get it. It is the same with Finn if we switch the argument to bowlers. Finn was being selected over Onions (when his back wasn't buggered and he was taking 70 wickets per season).
Ballance has had how many chances for England now? He is also stodgy. Cook is stodgy. Jennings is a little stodgy. It is only when you get to Root, Bairstow and Stokes that you find the attacking players. You are going to get three stodgy players at the top of the order.
I really have no idea why you are bringing up Finn, he's not in the squad, in the end his record in tests was better than Onions for most of his career, despite the small matter of him being 6 years younger. I was at the ground for Onions greatest moment, so I love him for that, but consistent injuries was always a problem.
Why would England care if our top 3 is stodgy when we have Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Ali, Woakes, Broad to come? we consistently score runs at a ridiculously high rate, it really isn't remotely a problem.
you talk as if ballance has failed throughout his england career, it's just not true at all, he was hugely successful at first.
Again I probably wouldn't pick him, I even think he could be a passenger, but it's not the travesty you make out, and again this is the least "stodgy" England team I've ever known.
