You kidding ?? Essex are going for the title!! While Cook is available then maybe a loan back to Warwickshire wouldn't be the worse thing but I think it must be unlikely they'll loan him out so soon.Would be some display by Hampshire to beat Middlesex given Edwards went down injured on day 1.
Commentators on the essex somerset game were speculating that Chopra could go back to Warwickshire on loan. No chance that happens given they are both likely to be competing to avoid relegation. Hard for Warwickshire to pick anyone decent up on loan.
cricinfo seem to think angus robson is going to sussex. Angus Robson finds new home at Sussex | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo seems a strange one to me. They've got quite a few batsmen. Admittedly not many openers. I don't really rate Robson much either.
Averaged 60 in the Shield this seasonGood result for middlesex that. However much I hate it, Hampshire along with yorks will be the main challengers IMO. Abbott and roussoux are top class internations who would both get into every test team in the world. Luckily for everyone else therir actual overseas player bailey, isn't great in this format. Away from home it was important to stop them taking maximum points.
On the other hand, maybe it was a good time to play Notts, who you would expect will run away with this second division, perhaps it was a game Durham would fail to win at any point in the season so in that respect nothing has been lost and they've shed some of their early season rustiness!Durham's 4-day season virtually over then. The thing that hasn't been mentioned much from the coverage I've seen is I think it's ALWAYS an advantage to be playing in the first round of games. Apart from spreading the workload better you have teams getting match ready against each other.
Having to play Notts at home as Durham's first match, when Notts have already had the opportunity to shed their rustiness in an early match and a get win under their belt. That is pretty much the worst possible draw. The home draw puts the pressure on Durham and means Notts can simply insert Durham if it's cloudy - which it was and likely to be, making the proper game readiness situation even more important.
Didnt have a great season for middlesex last year thoughAveraged 60 in the Shield this season
You make it sound like this all happened as a conspiracy against them.Durham's 4-day season virtually over then.
