22 wickets at Worcester, in less than 90 overs play. Did someone say Pitch Liaison Officer?
Watching some of the highlights and the wicket was certainly up and down. Holden got bowled by one that kept low and there was another that flew off a length, edged and went way over the slips. Wicket looked a bit dry but with a tinge of grass on the top. I know it's being unseasonably dry recently and there be some club wickets with similar problems.

Tongue looks a good prospect. Tall and pretty fast (well, over 80mph anyway which counts as fast in English cricket).

Stevens still taking hatfuls for Kent. Would be curious to see how his bowling would translate at higher levels, or at least hear how people think his bowling would go at higher levels. Obviously if it does nowt he's cannon fodder, but he must have gotten some decent batsmen out in his time even in Division 2.

Stoneman needs to go big with his centuries. Bloke has been scoring runs for a little while but if he could put up some big numbers hed be a chance as Hameed and Jennings aren't exactly entrenched in the side.

So seeing as there looks to be a batting spot open at 5 in the test side what chance it goes to Livingstone? Obviously on the radar and started the season well.

Cook
Hameed
Jennings
Root
Livingstone?
Stokes
Bairstow
Moeen
Woakes
Broad
Anderson

I think from 6 down it is pretty certain barring injury and Root will bat 3 or 4 and Cook obviously opens. Hameed probably opens alongside him and Jennings has to be given a chance. That leaves number 5 and other than the tried and failed Ballance nobody seems to be making a great case in the early games.

Thing is, when Ballance was recalled last year, he was in the middle of a frankly miserable county season - i.e if he keeps up the run-scoring this season I'd be happy enough to look past his mediocre series vs Pakistan and dire tour of Bangladesh. That said, if he did badly again after a hypothetical recall, I guess that woulds have to be the end of his England career.

Hameed's bad start to the season also puts him in doubt for me.

While I agree to a certain extent I think they need to look at a couple of players first and Ballance needs a run like Bairstow had of over half a season with a ridiculous average to win his place back. If it was a straight choice now between Ballance or Livingstone i'd go for Livingstone.

Wonder if Buttler makes a full strength lancashire 4 day side. Not convinced he gets in there on merit although i'm sure he will play when available.

Didn't know Eskanazi had 62 of 34 with 5 sixes in him. I think Compton is back fit but Eskanazi has started the season well. Could be an opportunity for a loan there for a second div county, maybe even Warwickshire.

Wonder if we can avoid 3 losses in a row? Although with basically no bonus points it's not much better than a loss

Massive win for Lancs if we can knock the last 3 wickets over after tea. Rolled for 109 and conceding a 169 run first innings lead then 23/2 in the second innings.

Seems I went for the wrong yorkshire batsman as top runscorer in div 1 bet. Only 400+ runs for Lyth to make up on Ballance.
