Or, you know, it could be a reflection of them having looked at the pitch the Test is going to be played on
With the current mindset of Oz cricket and coaching, basically any pitch that spins or seams is going to lead to this negative mindset. It's their default viewpoint now.

Apparently going to break up very quickly, probably turn a lot from day 1 or 2.

Not much in it for the quicks. Pretty much exactly what was expected so not sure what the fuss is about. Either way Aus shouldn't play 3 specialist spinners, unless one of them is Maxwell, or none of them are Lyon.

You're not wrong, also it plays very well with the less-informed local fan-base. Like me.

The curator is a former fast bowler and he said that the pitch had so much bounce that if he was playing, the game would be over on the fourth day..

According to the report it's cracked and dryish but the curator is expecting it to hold together enough and will turn slowly.

The track isn't going to breakup, apparently. ****ing morons.(I mean the curators/management.)

At least Haze should be able to keep the batsmen quiet, especially if he bowls with the accuracy he did during the summer here, and he's still decently threatening when the ball's reversing.
That would be the rationale, I can see Boof coming out to the Day 1 presser after Pujara has lain waste to the convict filth and defending the selection because Haze theoretically wouldn't take wickets on that deck because he just keeps things quiet.

Meanwhile Starc will take 5/182

But let's not panic lads, we have a whole series to do that.

You doth protest too much, methinks. It doesn't need to break up. Our batsmen aren't used to slow conditions where it doesn't come onto the bat, and in any case it's generally the straight deliveries that cause the problems for our batsmen. It'll only result in our bowlers not being able to take wickets, especially if we panic and pick three spinners.

If Khawaja is basically out because of his SL form, why not Hazlewood? Last two Tests of that series didn't look any more threatening than M Marsh.

Taking that a bit further, why Lyon is the only spinner guaranteed selection based on his prev Asia form is a mystery to me but anyway.
Lyon isn't guaranteed selection in these conditions more than O'Keefe is. They'll play two spinners for certain.

Hazlewood is one of Australia's two best bowlers. IMO he's the best bowler we have. He's had two mediocre tests in SL, and he says only played 26 tests overall. If they don't pick him it's utter madness.

Lol yeah that was the first report I saw. Not sure what the deal is with that curator but seems like he's smoking crack because absolutely no one else who's seen the pitch thinks anything like that.

Very weird comments from that curator, not sure if anyone's actually taking him seriously

Put simply, would you pick Haze, who will at least provide a modicum of control and reverse swing, or go for one of two spinners who've never played long form cricket in these conditions and don't have great control themselves, bearing in mind we're already picking two spinners and Starc.

Looking at all this, its best if you get Gillespie in as coach and kick Lehmann out asap.

The not breaking up part is possible tbf.. Pitches do tend to have a lot of grass on them during the domestic season so there isn't much wear and tear. May still be a slow pitch.

If aussies pick 3 spinners on a slow turner that's india's 600 confirmed in first innings, unless it is a nagpur esque pitch playing 3 spinners would be height of stupidity from aussies not to forget india's 3rd spinner unlike australian spinners is not a hack and also doubles up as no 9 with a batting avg of 74.

Obviosly haven't seen the pitch myself, but reports are that it looks like it will break up very quickly

Hope you know the difference between square turn and slight turn with a bit of zip. Lot of different types of turning pitches in India.
I thought we were talking about the pitch "breaking up"

He'll be a casualty of this tour at this rate guaranteed if all goes as predicted and we get zilch for victories.
