He'll be a casualty of this tour at this rate guaranteed if all goes as predicted and we get zilch for victories.
I thought his contract was until 2019 but he better go if that's the case. Reckon he's at least six months past his use by date.

So what's the likely Aust XI fellas?
it was and still is

warner
renshaw
smith
marsh
handscomb
marsh
wade
o'keefe
starc
hazlewood
lyon

and now there's a question mark over whether starc/hazlewood miss out, presumably for agar. usman could come in for renshaw but that seems unlikely

Australian team/management is already confused/panicking to some degree lol!

There will be turn but not sure how much..
More importantly not sure whether it'd be quick turn or slow turn.. and 'how often' it will turn..

So there's three aspects-
1) amount of turn
2) speed of turn
3) frequency of turn

Slow turner for example (even with all the breaking up..) is pretty much a road as you have enough time to play late. So speed is crucial.

Square turner on the other hand is pretty unlikely as it would have to turn a great amount and at pace!! and very frequently! Those pitches are rare and India has not seen one since 2015! (and that was under ultra aggressive Ravi Shastri, and not under the passive Anil Kumble)

Both teams should stick to normal line-ups.

Australia would be foolish to play 3 spinners even with turn from day 1..

Just because there's appreciable turn on day 1 & 2 doesn't mean it's going to turn massively more on day 4. The recent Mumbai test a good example of that. People just assume too much with regards to pitches..

If its turning too much, Aus should just play another batsman. No one has done that yet. Could work.

I really hate this sort of assumption that the home team has any serious influence on the pitches. Even if just the boards let alone the coaches and team staff themselves. I know it happens but it shouldn't.

Shastri in 2015 was very vocal about and literally demanding square turners..

Kumble, on the other hand, says little and asks for little.. Not much influence. During his time we have even seen a track or two for the seamers .. He lets the curator or whoever is in charge do their job..
Ever since he took over, the pitches have generally been flatter like they used to be.. with some help for spin bowling.
They've been geared towards making the game go the distance as they perhaps don't want to lose out on revenues through early finishes..

Shastri sounds like a clown

At least Kumble has some sense

As long as they are normal pitches like in 2008-2010(spin and reverse from day 4, good for batting for the first 3 days), its cool. It will only get boring if they start producing dead tracks that resulted in 600 vs 600 totals for a few years in the last decade.

But im hoping the pitches are more spin friendly than the recent ones because when bat dominates ball it makes for **** viewing due to it having happened many a times in the last couple of decades in Tests and pretty much all the time in limited overs cricket.

So last thing I want to see is more repetition.. If one wants to see bat dominate, one can watch T20. But when it's Tests, I like to see at least an even contest between bat and ball, if not slightly geared towards bowlers, so that the batsmen are finally tested for once. It makes for great viewing.
