Think Shamsi was the incumbent cover for Tahir and did well when given opportunity; SA loath swapping when someone does well. Ngidi is in the squad for experience more than likely, lots of bowling allrounders... from the squad team will probably be: Amla, QDK, Duminy, deVillers, Faf, Miller, Pretorius, Parnell, Phehlukwayo, Rabada, Tahir... short one so possible Behardien in for Miller?Think it’s a bit too early for Ngidi. 20/20 is fine and that’s the format he has excelled in but he hasn’t played much cricket outside of that format. However, he is exciting, Abbott has gone, so who else warrants selection?
Think Shamsi should be reserved for the 20/20s, maybe get Maharaj into the mix? He won’t take many wickets but can tie an end up, be dangerous on the right surface (yesterday’s wicket for example) and offers some lower order batting.
Can't complain really. Rossouw and Abbott are losses and Steyn/Morkel may come back but that is probably our best squad available now.ODI squad announced: AB de Villiers (Titans, capt), Hashim Amla (Cape Cobras), Farhaan Behardien (Titans), Quinton de Kock (Titans), JP Duminy (Cape Cobras), Faf du Plessis (Titans), Imran Tahir (Dolphins), David Miller (Knights), Chris Morris (Titans), Wayne Parnell (Cape Cobras), Lungi Ngidi (Titans), Andile Phehlukwayo (Dolphins), Dwaine Pretorius (Highveld Lions), Kagiso Rabada (Highveld Lions), Tabraiz Shamsi (Titans).
Good squad overall I think, and nice to see Morris and Pretorius back.
He was meant to play FC last week but pulled out because of the same recurring back injury....how far's the tower from returning?
was hoping for morkel to come back big in the LO for fantasy
It would be very concerning for SA if we did not appear to be rolling in fast bowlers at the moment.... but really hoping for Steyn and Morkel to prove fitness for England series.well that's no good is it
Talk is, there is concerns about his future ? Read that somewhere but can't remember where.
Apologies for ambiguity. What kind of concern? Kolpak?
Thank you for the clarification.Apologies for ambiguity.
His back complications.
