Nicholls is like Guptill without the flair
But with test fifties under pressure against Australia and South Africa in the last 12 months.

The Nicholls hate is strong on CW. He averaged 56 in the tour of South Africa a few months ago when hardly anyone else did anything, so IMO he has plenty to offer. Admittedly his form was poor against Pakistan and he didn't look good in this innings. We could have tried someone else in this series, but I think he deserves to always be on the radar.

The fifty in South Africa was after the horse had bolted and it seemed to me that the yarpies had their foot off the throat. It was a solid enough innings but the dude is a spud.

That 50 in SA was without doubt his finest Test innings to date. He showed lots of grit in tough seaming conditions against a damn good attack. But sadly, he's just not quite up to it for mine. For any specialist bat to look as poor as he did on this wicket really speaks volumes of his ability (or lack of it) for me.

Yup, that's damn annoying because big CDG can really push it along. Now with Watling and Latham, this could be snails pace.

Banned
Well that's a bummer, just as it was starting to be fun to watch - these two will obdurately grind down the Bangladeshis and ultimately the match into a draw.

Man the Basin has delivered so many average matches in the last ten years
I don't think that's true. There's been twelve tests in the last 10 years and seven have had a result. We've seen big tons from McCullum, Williamson, Sangakkara, Clark and Voges. Ross Taylor, Williamson, Shikhar Dhawan and Misbah-ul-haq have all been sawn off in the 90s. 5+ wicket hauls have come from Mohammad Asif, Philander, Morkel, Broad, Boult, and Sharma.

The real pattern in my opinion is NZ's terrible record, borne out of toothless bowling and low first innings scores. It's not the Basin's fault we've sucked ass.

I don't hate him. I wish him well but don't think he's good enough at the moment and would like to see someone else get a go.

Yup, the CDG wicket has really taken the air out of what could have been an exciting prospect.
