Cricketer Of The Year
A little jarring seeing divergent opinions on the one player. Personally I prefer Travis Head out of all the younger batsman though Kurtis does deserve to be in front of him on performances.
Picking on form, who would have thought. Of course, Nevill does't get a chance to show he's played himself into some kind of long-game form because he doesn't play another Shield match until February. Grr, I really hate this fixturing. Can't be good for Aus cricket. That missed stumping was a really ****-up by Wade. It could change the outcome of the Test as a 9th wicket of Sarfraz last night could have led to the 10th last night too or very early today. Now, who knows? If Pakistan bat for an hour plus Australia will bat again, I'm certain of it.
If Wade was in Bairstow- de Kock like batting form, I think it would be reasonable to select him as the keeper (although if he was batting like that, why not pick him as a specialist bat at 6) but as it stands, Nev should come back for the Indian tour. No other keeper that we would look at (so everyone bar Hartley) is doing enough at the moment, domestically.
The one good thing about the 3 young bats selected and their performances to date is that the selectors may shelve the idea of picking on a hunch. Maddinson was clearly not in the same form as the others and he has just looked nervous / out of his depth so far. I'm not completely writing him off, I'm sure he'll look better after a nice cover drive for 4, but still.
Also, have a look at Oz bats at 6 since 1 Jan 2014

Purely playing devils advocate here, but did Wade have any other notable blunders as keeper in Brisbane? or the previous test? That missed stumping was a really ****-up by Wade. Yep. He was consistently sloppy to Lyon, he's really fumbly to spinners. He's ok to pace, but it's his keeping to spin that is (still) the legitimate concern. Lyon earned that wicket, and Wade missed a reasonably easy opportunity. A competent keeper would have pouched that. We can't take him to the SC, especially if there's plans to play two spinners.Purely playing devils advocate here, but did Wade have any other notable blunders as keeper in Brisbane? or the previous test?
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a matter of confirmation bias, ie. Wade is known as being a bad keeper so if he makes a mistake everyone jumps all over it as proof that they're right that he's a bad keeper. Nevill has definitely also made several similar big errors (missed stumpings) in the last year but I wonder if they don't get noticed as much because of his reputation as a more solid keeper.
Food for thought.
He's barely even a First-class player. His selection was/is incomprehensibleMaddinson just doesn't look like a test player (in the opinion of this Pom). He looked like he was cacking his pants.
I must be as blind as Wade in the lights then because I didn't see any missed chances when he went through those 600 FC deliveries where Nevill missed any chances off Lyon.Purely playing devils advocate here, but did Wade have any other notable blunders as keeper in Brisbane? or the previous test?

ps. since I know many posters here have an issue with reading comprehension, I'll spell it out, and reiterate that I'm not saying that I think Wade is a better keeper than Nevill
You're referring to Wade? Go and tell the one who matters then.well he missed a stumping, and he also very likely dropped a catch in the overs before starc got the crucial wicket
