Any of you cheated while scoring? I was a bit naughty once and put down a 2 as a boundary because the fielder touched the rope but umpire didn't give it.

Nah, never done that. Made plenty of mistakes though.

We share the duties between the dads at reps and it's a pain in the arse because everyone asks you four times per over what the ****ing score is, then the coaches come along and want to know how many balls the kid on 58 not out has faced (we count those too).

I only do it because it stops me pacing around when the young bloke is batting.

Fred Goodall was the worst umpire in history. That prick would have his finger up before the fielding side had a chance to appeal. The West Indies even wrote a song about him, he was so bad.

I've a lot of time for Dickie Bird. Had a long chat with him at a game in Auckland. Top bloke. When he toured India he only ate steak and eggs so he wouldn't get sick.

Bring an iPad along when you need to do it. Scoring is ridiculously easy with those.

I'm looking forward to debates about three players when Slippy gets warned for making threads involving one player. Loophole Slippy!

What's the forum's view on Rudi Koertzen?
The slow arm of death :-O:D.... I always thought he was good. The fact that nobody here has him on the radar shows me that he didn't make glaring mistakes. That means he was good.
Actually he gets a fair bit of stick on here, but not as much as some others. From the times I saw him, he seemed pretty good (certainly not the best, mind) but obviously that was only a portion of his umpiring career.

So first we thought Slippy was from the 90s. Not it appears he is from the future. I feel he is someone who has seen eternity.

When did Patel last play a test match? Seems like a long time between drinks for him. Decent effort to jag a recall, even if he isn't that old.
