Umpiring is ****ing hard and I admire anyone who can get those narrow, split second calls correct at International level at a better-than-chance rate.

So many ordinary Pereras have played for Sri Lanka - I think they should all change their names to De Silva

Ojha imo.

Not sure how good Pant is, but he's been scoring a ridiculous amount of runs for fun in his first season.

We better be goddamned sure the alternative keepers are at least as good as Saha at wicket keeping. Our slip cordon is not the best and if the keeper is not consistent, 15-20 runs more in a game won't help.

I was watching a European basketball game a few years back when the commentator (a former England international player and club head coach) observed that, in his opinion, the two hardest sport to officiate are basketball and cricket.

I would agree.

Many more tight calls than other sports I reckon.

Of the newer guys Richard Kettleborough seems pretty good.

I have to say I quite enjoy umpiring. And to my surprise I enjoyed scoring when I was roped in to do it on Saturday. Perhaps it's because I'm rubbish at actually playing and like doing the other tasks linked to being involved in the game.

Whatever it takes!!!
Nah.. I would say if we need to try someone other than Saha, it has to be DK right now. Pant can be tried in T20Is and I think it would be a good time for MSD to retire from T20 Internationals so that we can trial the next gen. T20 world cups gonna happen every 2 years anyways.

My daughter has suddenly got into scoring and attending her brother's games. She hated cricket before. Now she even goes to rep practice ffs. I'm sure it has nothing to do with there being a bunch of yoing, reasonably fit blokes there.

It'll be more to do with the fact your Test team aren't worth watching

Jono may be on to something. Clearly the way forward to attract more spectators to the sport is to ban ugly blokes from playing.

Umpiring isn't scoring but I'll forgive you for that given your age
