Rooney is bound to play, so what is the best case scenario if he has to?

Hart
Walker Cahill Smalling Rose
Dier Drinkwater
Sterling Rooney Alli
Kane

That is what I came up with, means leaving Vardy out, but it is that or Rooney plays instead of Alli which is just so poor. I suppose he could play wide instead of Sterling.

I still got a feeling Wilshere might end up starting, would note hate that if it is instead of Henderson.
It's too depressing to even contemplate, he's not got the energy to play up-front, and he'll just slow everything up in midfield, I'm just hoping for the metatarsal gods to kick in.

You'll Never Walk Alone
Hart
Clyne - Dilly Ding - Dilly Dong - Rose
Dier
Drinkwater - Henderson
Alli
Kane - Vardy

Just seen loads of Utd and Bournemouth fans on the news moaning about how the cancellation and how much money it cost them etc... Fair enough they are frustrated, but the angst directed at the organisers for calling the game off is staggering. Given that lives could have been at risk they were absolutely right to call it off, can't get my head around how people seem to think any other option would have been appropriate.

Tickets have been refunded and entrance to the game tomorrow is free. Shouldn't be complaining if you're a united fan... unless you've travelled further than the Bournemouth fans that is...

Even if I was a Bournemouth fan though, I'd like to think I'd prefer missing a football match to potentially being blown up. Obviously in hindsight I'd be irked, but a lot of people seem to be getting upset that at the time of the incident the match was called off, when, given the circumstances, that was unequivocally the right thing to do.

Yeah, there's no way the police or the club could've known really. Getting everyone out safely (which they did) was priority.

Funnily enough, GMP had been practising for major terrorist incidents at the Trafford Centre last week, so this came at a great time for them...

Reckon Vardy is perfectly suited to 'come on with 25 mins to go and run the opposition defence into the ground' role.
He is, good thing is he is having such a good year you wouldn't be worried if he started which is also a good thing.

Can't say the same about our defenders though.

Vardy being the one to miss out is the least insane option, ****ing hell. Surely he can't actually pick Rooney?

I'm not even sure it would be at this stage tbh. A shock, for sure, but stranger things have happened. Binning off Vardy, however, would absolutely be the most illogical choice imaginable.

In a way, sometimes it's better to use existing understanding between players up front like Kane and Alli, which I guess would push Vardy to the left or right.

------------------Hart
--Clyne---Cahill--Smalling---Rose--
-----------Henderson--Dier
----Vardy-------Alli------Sterling
-----------------Kane

I had a horrible dream last night that uncle Roy named his line up for the game against Russia with Milner at right back and Rooney playing as a lone striker. Mind you Ian Holloway was in goal so it's probably not a premonition.

Vardy on the wing is such a waste though, I'm not even sure if he'd be any good there. It'd be like turning Alan Shearer into Jonathan Walters.
