Also, what does everyone think about the suggestion that Michaill Antonio should have been in with a shout? Seems to be doing the rounds on social media.

What a shock West Ham fans upset their man never got picked. Don't tell me they kicking a stink up over Noble too.
It's not actually WHam fans that I've seen making the argument tbf. More of the stats brigade. Apparently Antonio has more assist/goals than most of the other midfielders selected.

He seems ok, fast and strong, but I don't really see where he would fit in for England.

I went with

Hart
Walker Cahill Smalling Rose
Dier
Drinkwater Henderson
Alli
Kane Vardy

Roy has favoured a diamond or standard 4-3-3, so yeah, there's not really an obvious place for the likes of Antonio.

Clyne everyday over Walker IMO, just so good defensively.

Yeah I think they're both quite good. Walker's been a bit better from what I've seen this year, Clyne had a particularly dodgy game against United in the Europa. But I don't really know, I don't watch them both in every game.

Is that the only thing you'd change?

Anyway Jack Wheelchair makes the England squad after one game in a year. No idea how Delph gets in and Rashford is clearly only there for experience and won't make the cut.
Rashford looks lively to me. I know in football land you basically have to play for 5 years before you're 'experienced' enough to be considered as an international player but what I've seen of him he looks as good as any once you get beyond Kane and Vardy.

I think he'd be a good option for the last half hour of games if Vardy isn't a sub (ie he starts or is injured).

I'm hoping three of Milner, Delph, Rooney (I can dream) and Wheelchair get the elbow when things get reduced to 23.

Rooney shouldn't be starting for United and shouldn't be going to the Euros. Even off the bench I'm not sure what role he can fill. Not sure he could kill off a game for 15 mins using his experience if it was required.

On the plus side if he goes and plays I can point out how awful his first touch is to United fans that can't seperate history from his current level.

Reckon Vardy is perfectly suited to 'come on with 25 mins to go and run the opposition defence into the ground' role.

I think that was Clyne's only bad game of the year otherwise he was LFC POTY which is not saying much but damn he was so consistent for us, every week at least 7.5/10 performances. Honestly, if we had a Clyne clone in LB our defence would be set. I guess I don't rate Walker all that much and I like RBs to be solid defensively first. In these short tournies, I think it's even more important.

I think the rest of your line-up is probably spot on. Gotta play the inform players to an extent, I guess Roy will need to use any friendlies to bed Drinkwater into the team properly. It's the kind of team that looks inferior on paper compared to other English teams in the past decade but one that might work hard enough to go further, especially with the firepower up front.

Something tells me Roy might go the safe/wrong route and try to fit in 'big' names.

I'd echo the subsequent comment about Clyne ahead of Walker.

Other than that, Dier, Drinkwater and Henderson strikes me as one too many of various versions of holding midfielders, but maybe that's what's needed if Clyne and Rose are spending most of their time in the final third. I suppose I'd pick Lallana ahead of Henderson, but I couldn't claim to be 100% sure.

Rooney is bound to play, so what is the best case scenario if he has to?

Hart
Walker Cahill Smalling Rose
Dier Drinkwater
Sterling Rooney Alli
Kane

That is what I came up with, means leaving Vardy out, but it is that or Rooney plays instead of Alli which is just so poor. I suppose he could play wide instead of Sterling.

I still got a feeling Wilshere might end up starting, would note hate that if it is instead of Henderson.
