Vardy on the wing is such a waste though, I'm not even sure if he'd be any good there. It'd be like turning Alan Shearer into Jonathan Walters.
True, but I think an on the ball shape could allow Vardy up front more. This may be overthinking it, but I don't think at the Euros teams will be pushing up and giving Vardy the kind of space he enjoyed in the EPL. It was more of an idea if you really wanted to capture that dynamic Kane and Alli had for Tottenham.

Surely to **** there's a better option than Cahill for centre half?
I know it's probably madness, but I wouldn't be against Stones playing with Smalling, in the end Summer International football tends to be played at a slower pace, and his laconic style could work, but yeah are options there are by far the biggest weakness we have really.

Still ridiculous. I guess him being injured has counted against him, shouldn't if you're counting the actual goals.

Not sure any of the decisions to leave him out were all that bad in isolation though. Kane+Vardy were both better this season, and last season was one of his toughest injury-wise.

The worst was probably 2011/12 when Rooney got it, when Rooney's stacks of goals masked a much weaker all-round game. But even then, the games that gave Aguero a clear edge would have come after the voting had taken place, when Mancini swallowed his pride and recalled Tevez to play alongside him.

Don't buy it. You couldn't name 3 better players in the league with a straight face. Hell, you arguably couldn't name 1. Has the best goals to minutes ratio in the history of the Premier League, comfortably I might add. Whilst Kane had a "better season" the only reason he had this season was that his teammates were better than Aguero's. Should be an argument against him if anything.

This kind of just shows why the awards are pretty limited though, because players like Kane will always win out.

Yeah not sure I could even try to argue that there's a better player in the league than Aguero. But I feel like Kane spent the entire season banging in ridiculous goals in big games, which is easier to credit than the job Aguero could have done if his team weren't so bad.

Feel like this season has almost been a repeat of last year where the strikers are concerned. Costa/Vardy score loads of goals in the first half of the season and win their team the league, Kane has an insane winter and early spring scoring amazing goals in big games and people barely notice that by the end of the season Aguero has scored as many if not more than them despite missing two months through injury. He was probably most unlucky in 13/14 though, think Sturridge got picked because they thought he'd win the league...

Didn't Aguero miss half of 13/14?
