Agree completely. Maybe that is why they are looking for another bowler. Say Finn gets injured ......I still think T Curran is a better bowler than Overton. I thought Footitt was at the top of the queue. Cook hinting that in SA they needed more variety after Woakes wasn't as effective.

I suppose we'll have a better idea about Curran when he's bowled in the first division.

And I wonder whether Topley and Willey are somewhere in the reckoning if they start well in the CC.

Topley and Willey are too slow. 80mph. Topley thinks he will be ready in about 2 years for Tests when he has had more bowling and has increased his pace.
Willey, Topley, Curran and Footitt will find out what it is like to bowl in the Div 1.

Willey takes his 5fers every 11th game compared to Curran who takes his every 4th game. :)

Cooky is just praying for the middle-order of Foakes, Stokes and Woakes that us on CW have been going on about for ages, before any of them had played for England, it will happen.

He's England captain, to him it's a different question. 'Who are some players you rate in county cricket' not 'what are some problems in the England team we need to fix right now'. He's bound to take the more positive interpretation when asked about England.

Yeah he might keep ahead of Ambrose who might just play 50 over and CC. Doesn't really add much as a T20 player anyway.

I think it is more that he plays for Essex rather than his quality as a cricketer as to why Cook mentioned him. Also wouldn't surprise me if Cooky literally panicked and said names that sprang to mind. He watches almost no CC you'd imagine.

Surrey could have opened the bowling with any of S Curran, T Curran, Rampaul or Footitt. All really opening bowlers. Surprised Sam Curran didn't open at one end with his full inswingers.

Tried to pack side with all rounders/people who contribute with both bat/ball. Is for CC and Royal London Cup but will make changes for the blocks of the later.
