Let's hope the improvement is not immediate though. Need a Leicester win on Monday
I think he has a huge job keeping them up but if he does with a summer of transfers behind him I expect them to improve a lot. For all the fat Spanish waiter jokes over here he is one guy who can attract players to a club that may not join a lesser manager. His track record as a manager is superb to be fair to him and for Newcastle to get him is a real coup.

With Rafa at the helm, Newcastle should easily make mid table next year, possibly push for top 6. Just so long as they don't trip up at the tricky away games like Brentford

**** me Lawrenson is a grumpy **** - never have I smiled more at the thought of Robin Friday laying a log in his kit bag than this evening

That was the softest penalty ever, his girlfriend must be happy if he goes down that easily.

Gawd what a terrible thing that was, awful match, no upset, and won by the softest divingy pen around.

As adverts for football go that was the "shake-and-vac" ad.

Never mind all that. We're the first side through to the semis and I don't know why they don't just give us the cup now.

It was the first time I'd watched us in anything longer than highlights for quite while, and it's easy to see why we're struggling so badly in the league. Too many donkeys (Delaney, Jedinak, Soure and Ledley spring immediately to mind) who just aren't up to scratch. We're completely reliant on Bolassie in the final third, although Puncheon's return from injury may improve that aspect of our play. And no-one other than Cabaye seems capable of passing or controlling the ball. And the players' confidence appears to be completely shot, judging by the number of times two of them collided going for the ball. Perhaps the cup run will give them a bit more confidence for the remaining league fixtures. I hope so, as I reckon we need to find a couple of wins from somewhere to be safe, which is a couple more than we've managed thus far in 2016.

Heard there was a fire or something?
Yep, it was interesting enough, could smell it, but not see it. Apparently an electrical fault in the old grandstand, probably only the asbestos stopped it from spreading.

It was in a little room in the middle which no-one goes in, no-one really knew what to call it. Farcical, "utility room" was used but no-one knew where the **** that was. If it had been a real fire it would have been another Bradford, club could easily get fined. We've complained we can't hear the tannoy in our stand, where it happened, whats been done about it, **** all. Honestly they should just shut the grandstand down now.

I finally bit the bullet and made complaints about various supervisors, so it really will be my last match stewarding, most of them are just utter ***** with no knowledge of how to talk to people. True shambles, they're losing stewards by the dozen, but it's always are fault. So they have to hire in Shadow Security at a massive cost to the club.

What great initials for people that work in the security Biz eh?

Great to be at the start of a conspiracy theory though, gives you some insight into how these things start. The utility room is pretty much in the middle of the stand. Yet I heard at the bus-stop some bloke telling some other bloke that this bloke had told him that it was some bloke who threw a flare that set off this electrical box.

Umm, it was a locked room, with no access apart from the padlocked door. One for Jonathan Creek that. Guess the rumour will spread like wildfire.

EDIT: Turns out it was a smoke-bomb, so what they said to us was wrong, very odd. Probably should have gone to the debrief but didn't see the point as I'm never going back.

Today was rubbish again (although actually we were decent first half), this season needs to end pretty quickly.

No comment on Chelsea and their latest shambles?

Standards are slipping on here.

The Costa incident with Barry was funny, was so close to biting him and just managed to keep his head in time.

Another season winning **** all. And Leicester will probably win the title. Or Tottenham. Sigh.

Could have been worse, someone could have ended their career getting in the way of that Guerdiora strike.
