I know batsmen can be particular, but surely those back of the neck protectors aren't that uncomfortable?

The lack of swing at home this summer has made us so toothless.
Yeah Southee in particular has looked very unthreatening. Boult has still been decent but nowhere near what he's like with a new swinging ball.

There's now a very predictable debate about lack of spin and whether Craig should have been selected, ignoring that he would most likely go 1/150. Fact is we just don't have anyone that is very threatening in these conditions and against batsmen that don't just give it away. Wagner is imo still our best bet.

FFS Smith not wearing the back of the neck protector. Get your **** together Smith.
Smith surely knew he'd got himself in exactly the wrong and dangerous position by turning away from that too. Everyone should be wearing those protectors.

Nasty, the way his head rocked back at the point of impact. Fortuitous timing with the tea break.

Anyway, good bowling from Wagner and Anderson in that last hour. Didn't let Australia fly away with it like NZ did last week. Still, with so little movement on offer it's hard to see the sort of collapse that NZ need at this point.

While the pitch has flattened out, Australia were also that much more accurate with the ball than our guys (at least until McCullum's onslaught). Not that ours have been bad, but Australia were very accurate.

Australia in such a strong position now. If they aren't stupid, they'll get a massive lead and bat NZ out of the series instead of declaring early like they usually do.

No guarantees with this sort of movement on offer.

Though this length is too short thus far. Looks alarming, won't get anyone out.
