ugh Eng SL qf. Seen enough of them to know what happens. It's a decent England team but unlikely to be good enough to beat SL in asian conditions.

Nah, I reckon England are the form team and if our youngsters throw their wickets away under pressure like they did this morning, it will be plain sailing for England..

Will be a stern examination against spin for the players, which is what this tournament is all about.

Betting sites have England favorites against SL - I am wondering if that's correct
Personally and I'm no betting expert (and I'm biased as an England fan) but I feel SL should be the favourites. There was a tri series between Eng, IND, SL before christmas. England lost this game to SL 3rd Match: Sri Lanka Under-19s v England Under-19s at Colombo (RPS), Dec 14, 2015 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo and this game ( 6th Match: Sri Lanka Under-19s v England Under-19s at Colombo (RPS), Dec 18, 2015 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo) got rained off but it would be fairly safe to say England were going to lose given their two best bats were out.

Obviously England have gone well in this tournament and confidence is high but they haven't really been put under any pressure. Each game they've got off to a good start and their opposition hasn't been top notch.

I wouldn't be surprised if England won because it's a talented group playing with confidence, but SL would be my favourites because of the familiarity to the conditions

Yeah, would have Sri Lanka as favorites given the conditions. Sounds like they could be a value bet.

England should beat Sri Lanka. That triangular series game against Sri Lanka could've been won if only they batted all the overs. They're obviously looking back to that match and learning from their mistakes. They know right now they have been the most impressive team in this tournament thus far (top run scorer and wicket taker are currently lead by Englishmen) and are high on confidence. Then again, Sri Lanka also has a chance to win. Right now, I'd say it's 55:45 in Sri Lanka's favour. If England does get through, I have a feeling they will knock India out who will most likely beat Namibia. England has the fast bowlers which Indian under-19s usually struggle with. Regarding other 1/8 games, again, I have a funny feeling West Indies might knock Pakistan out; they will be high after that controversial win over Zimbabwe. Bangladesh should crush Nepal. My prediction for final will be Bangladesh v England, but in knock-outs, ANYTHING can happen; in fact, chasing anything over 200 in under-19 world cups 1/8, 1/4 & 1/2 is very-very tough. India are favourites though to win it – it is expected of them.

Pretty appalled.

My opinion of Mankading is similar to most people, I'd imagine. Have no problem with it as long as there is a warning first. I had no sympathy for Jos Buttler. I am aware this is not a particularly rational argument.

There was no attempt at a warning in this case. The bowler has robbed the people at the ground, and those watching on TV, of an exciting finish to a keenly contested match. He has also robbed his teammates and himself of the chance to know whether they could have pulled off a win without Mankading, even if they don't realise that yet. And the way they celebrated was immature but I suppose you can't expect much more of U19s.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe should have won without needing a last wicket stand.

Dont get what the issue is. Why do they need to warn them? Its against the spirit of the game for the non striker to leave his crease before the ball is bowled. Im all for mankadding , stops batsmen cheating. Run after the batsman faces the ball and win properly.

I like giving a warning in a way because it helps to somewhat curb the issue of teams using mankading as a strategy to get someone out.

Yeah, historically speaking the warning has served well to a) keep the dismissal in the game and b) prevent it being used strategically, I suppose.

Yeah but that sends the message to batsman that it's okay trying to steal a little advantage because you'll just get a warning. If you remove the warning then batsmen will, shockingly, have to follow the rules for a change.

Well instead of running him out as soon as you are aware he is doing it, you instead just pull out of the delivery stride and warn him, so he doesn't gain an advantage in the meanwhile.

Yeah, this.

At my university, torrenting movies is not allowed (obviously). The first time you are caught, you get an email warning (that doesn't go on your record or anything). The following times result in removal of internet for various periods of time.

Everyone torrents anyway because they know that at the worst, they'll get the initial warning, at which point they'll stop.

Giving a warning for mankading is a very similar idea. The warning doesn't punish the batsman at all, so there seems little point in not stealing metres until you get a warning.

So who are the future stars expected to emerge from the U19 CWC? RCB's Sarfaraz Khan is doing very well for India, he could be one to watch.

I guess this is a 'trickle-down' effect from the IPL. A talented youngster getting to share a dressing room with Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers. A fair amount of batting tips would be doing the rounds in that room.

I think three of England's bowlers (Curran, Mahmood, Crane) should kick on to become familiar to us out of this batch. Other bowlers to like: Nathan Smith, Alzarri Joseph (147kph)

Yeah but the batsman loses nothing by attempting to push the limits until you warn him which doesn't usually happen anyway because it's not worth the bowler distracting himself from bowling when all they can do is warn the batsman.
