2016 Under 19 Cricket World Cup

A lot of these Indian players look overage. Cheats. It's no wonder they have been dominant at under-19 level. Just compare their players with Bangladeshi and English players, and you can see a massive difference.

Looks like a fairly comfortable win for SL. ( only going by scorecards) well done and good luck for the semi..
@ energetic- pretty big call to call players cheats? I haven't seen the match so what's made you say that?

It was very easy for them, indeed. Never looked in doubt.
not so sure about never in doubt as from what I have heard on the tournament, England have been the form team. I think it will be very difficult for us to beat India so am expecting a India v Pakistan final..Pleased our young guys got this far and hoping that a few of them will make the step up to the A team soon..

Looks like England really struggled here. I wonder if Lawrence and Burnham hitting all the runs in the groups stages left them a bit unprepared as a batting order.

Still some good prospects to keep an eye on for the next few years. Enjoyed following them

Not surprised. England had the easiest of routes up and till the quarters. It should be a Bangladesh v India final.

Never in doubt after England was all out for 184 is what I mean. Sri Lanka strolled home after that.

South Africa getting rolled by Zimbabwe as well. Third best African team at this tournament.. not a great crop, then.

On the face of it it seems like Zim are experiencing their equivalent of the golden generation. Can't ever remember any of their U19 sides being anything besides cannon-fodder.

2004 they beat Australia and made the quarter-finals IIRC. I think they did well in 2006 as well?

Yeah the 2004 crop was actually awesome. The whole eleven ended up playing senior international cricket except for James Cameron who almost certainly would have if he didn't move to the UK and play county cricket instead.

Group A: Australia Under-19s v Zimbabwe Under-19s at Bogra, Feb 18, 2004 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

It was a shame the board pretty much collapsed right around that time and all the established players quit because with better structure and more senior heads, Zimbabwe were on track to really improve.

This game had 6 future Zimbabwean internationals, one who ended up playing for England and one who would've played for Zimbabwe if he had been willing to give up his English commitments AFAIK. Given how ****ed ZC were at that stage that's also fairly impressive (although unlike the 2004 side far more had quit Zimbabwean cricket before coming good).

What surprised me given that the white population in Zimbabwe at the time was around 50,000 or something was that eight of the guys in that game are white. Even in 2004 it's 6 plus Rainsford who I think is mixed.
