**Official** Pakistan and England in the UAE 2015/16

test cricketer

I watched the whole day and i reckon pakistans 234 is a decent total. The ball spun consistently and spun sqaure a couple of times and it will most likely get worse , i also reckon zulfi and yasir wont be as charitable as englands spinners, for the seamers there was reverse(rahat can also get reverse) cutters were effective, some balls didnt bounce and the ball occasionally got stuck in the pitch ,add the slow outfield and the fact that england have most likely loss stokes and will bat last and id say pakistan are in a better position than the scorecard suggests.

Just noticed the score and reading the print reports. Particularly enjoying yet another round of the world discovering that Anderson and Broad are, in fact, good bowlers in all conditions.

Broad still should have quite a few years left in him tbf so long as he's better managed, but yeah losing Anderson is gonna hurt.
Might get more years out of Anderson if he only plays tests. Lack of pace isn't a problem to him so someone with his skills could carry on a bit longer than another paceman who is more reliant on it.

I don't remember the last seamer who actually retired while still playing for England. They've all been injured and/or dropped and eventually petered out in county cricket.

Age of various seam bowlers with 400+ wickets at last test

McGrath 36
Walsh 38
Dev 35
Hadlee 39
Pollock 34
Wasim 35
Ambrose 36

So anomalies aside 35/36 seems like the most we can reasonably expect of Anderson ie 2017-18

2.5 - 3 years from him should be awesome! Pretty sure you guys will be able to find somebody decent by then.

If we can't find another pace bowler in 3 seasons then cricket in England is dead. Sporting terms that is an age.

Having Stokes/Ali in the team is a massive bonus as well. Being able to consistently put out a competent 5-6 man attack without weakening the batting will prolong his longevity significantly. We've already seen in this series how Cook has managed to be able to use him sparingly whilst not reducing his overall effectiveness on an innings at all.

I thought wasim was 37 when he retired after the 2003 WC so might probably be older than 35 at his last test.
