I loved him, that was why it was so bad what he did. He betrayed the sport I love and I can't forgive him for that.

Before anyone says anything I would feel same if they were English. Game means more than nationality.
fair enough, you're probably not the only one who feels that way

God can we leave the tedious/angry debate about the spot fixers to the relevant thread and not stink up the tour thread please.

The penalty for being caught with drugs in the UAE is death. But somehow Asif not only managed to worm his way out of that but his ban to enter the UAE has been overturned. I wonder how he managed to do that.

According to .gov:

"There is zero tolerance for drugs-related offences. The penalties for trafficking, smuggling and possession of drugs (even residual amounts) are severe. Sentences for drug trafficking can include the death penalty and possession of even the smallest amount of illegal drugs can lead to a minimum 4-year jail sentence."

Not surprised he was reported, while its not has bad as Afridi stepping on pitch in Faisalabad 2005 - the optics didn't look good even though I doubt kicking the ball really can be ball tampering or that i buy his explanation that his hands were sweaty and just didn't want to pick ball up, because he was trying to maintain the reverse-swing he was getting.

haha so true. Afridi in 05. Match forfeit/ball tampering '06. Spot fixing in '10.

Anything happen in 2012 other than Eng being whitewashed?

The English press all having a (justified, as it turned out..) waaaa about Ajmal chucking was probably the most controversial thing to happy during that series. Definitely counts as a 'story' though IMO.

Murmurs about Ajmal's action

The 1992 and 1996 series were filled with ball tampering controversies. Wasim, Waqar, Aaqib were seen (and to an extent justifiably) as spoiled bad boys by the English media..

The 2001 series had Saqlain getting wickets off no balls which Shepherd missed.

All started with Gatting vs Shakoor in 87.

Its so long ago now, but I don't recall much issues in 1996 series especially regarding tampering as their was in 1992 - however I could be wrong. Regarding 2001, they have been showing highly of that Manchester test match (i was there) at the end of the days plays a few times on skysports, ha up to this day its crazy how Shepherd missed those Saqlain no-balls.
