Malik looks pretty good since the opening bowlers have gone off. 70 and a few wickets still on!
Malik and Hafeez are the two biggest flat track bullies in Pakistan, who also bowl off spin and have competed with each other for years now...they can look sublime one ball and play a ridiculous shot the next ball so you never know with these two from my experience

For someone who almost exclusively saw Rashid play T20 cricket in county stuff and the Big Bash earlier in his career, it's interesting how much slower his stock ball is than his variations. This is something that even shows in 50 over games but it's even more pronounced here. Usually high-arm-action leggies with lots of variations are quick through the air, but Rashid's really slow through the air for his stock ball and then fires in everything else.

This is starting to feel like Lord's and the Oval: not bad bowling per se, but not remotely threatening-looking either.

Haha, the ease with which Pakistan is going thru the gears is giving me nasty flaahbacks to the 1st test v NZ this time last year.

As long as there is no flashback of the third test of that series, I'm good :D
In fairness that was a completely freak Test in terms of circumstances, you shouldn't read anything into it at all in terms of usual cricketing logic (particularly as Pakistan were totally dominant up til the point where, well, y'know)

Yeah plus the main factor for me was that it was the last test match in a very gruelling (for Pakistan) season for Pakistan. They pretty much played NZ straight after the 2 tests against Australia and most of the players looked physically and mentally tired. They are not used to a long 5 match test series. Most of them have never even been part of a 4 match series.
