well yeah serena is the greater doubles player of course, so is venus and hingis and there are probably others as well, based on her recent results, she is now ranked no: 1, the first indian woman to be ranked no: 1 in a global sport...that is the significance...

Meh, he won Monte Carlo in 2013 and Rome last year but lost to Rafa in Paris both times. Maybe if it's a thrashing it makes a real statement, but I've learned to sort of accept that they're fair game in the Masters but five sets in Roland Garros is a different prospect. Not that he can't do it of course, especially given their respective forms, but I don't think it's that big in terms of the French.

You're right, but this is totally different imo because of Rafa's mindset and form on clay. This is the first time this far away from the French Open Novak is favourite, and Rafa has been losing to hack after hack. A 2 and 3 or something is big imo.
Rafa's confidence on clay the lowest in ages.

Clay is probably his best surface tbh. It's just that he's played in the era of the best ever on the surface. Gap between him and the rest of the field is huge and Nadal is the only one who you think could beat him in a five setter. Sure you can forgive me not writing Nadal off yet mind.

Yeah, it's a really odd thing to make a stand on particularly in Fed Cup when the whole point of the ceremony is showing the unity between the two countries and they have a meal and then play tennis. It's not just insulting your opponents, but the country too, and actually how does it make Canada look as hosts. It's just really bizarre, and pig-headed. Her team looked embarrassed. Yet then if you behave like a brat you may get away with it by winning, but then losing to someone who hasn't beaten a top 10 player in 4 years, makes you look an utter moronic failure.

Looking forward to the French Open this year as Nadal isn't necessarily going to win. Admittedly if he doesn't Djokovic almost certainly will - but never mind.
