In limited overs cricket I disagree, if we were talking tests than yeah sure. Kane Williamson is the best batsmen from both sides IMO.
i'm sort of talking tests but not really tbh. more batting as an irreducible art/skill. more the pseudo-unquantifiables like experience, ability to soak up pressure, adaptability, ability to read the game situation and adjust, ability to rotate the strike - those sorts of things. kind of like that presence/aura burgey mentioned a while back. kane has it, smith has it, but clarke has done it for ten years (with breaks). given where he bats and his role in the side, those are all far more important than his ability to hit sixes.

Yeah that's what I thought, I just can't agree that Clarke in ODI's is the best batsmen, having watching him over the years he simply doesn't have that extra power game to really adapt to various situations. He can really only contribute in a meaningful way if he comes in at a time when he came in against SL, consolidating the middle overs.

clarke in recent years has remembered how to score fast, all his significant ODI scores since taking over as captain (granted not a huge amount given how many games he's missed) have come at a run a ball.

in any case, he doesn't need to adapt to an all-guns-blazing situation, we have pretty much an entire batting order's worth of that.

Clarke averages 54 in ODIs in Asia and 38 in Australia. Probably would have been an ATG in ODIs had be been an Indian. Test stats the opposite with 37 in Asia and 60 plus at home. Itstl.

Virender Sehwag has a test average of 91.5 in Pakistan. Does that mean he'd be 2nd best after Bradman had he been born in Pakistan?

You play 40-50% of your games at home. If you have a better average in India, that would just bring up the over all average.

Clarke has 125 games in Asia for his average of 45 whereas Sehwag has just 9 tests in Pakistan. Slightly different sample sizes, as well.

Williamson is a better batsman than clarke in all forms of the game.

that's... more than half of clarke's ODIs. strange.

edit: and wrong. thought it sounded fishy. only two hundreds in australia, christ.

He wouldn't have faced Indian bowlers had he been Indian.

As a Melbournian, being stuck in London for this match is deeply depressing. C'mon Aussies! But seriously, understand why anyone who is not Australian would be going for NZ. They are an insanely likeable cricket team. This is the dream final from my point of view. The only downfall? Having to endure the rubbish commentary team we get lumped with for all Aussie games on Sky. Namely, Warne, Lee etc. Why can Australians not commentate to a high standard? Anyway, cannot wait, historic occasion. Only hope 50,000 Indian fans have not bought tickets and don't turn up. The occasion and the 'G doesn't deserve that.

are channel 10 ever likely to pull a coup and steal all the cricket in aussie?
one can dream

a more realistic hope is that c9 realise how well c10 are doing despite having a far less entrenched and "lower-quality" product to sell and get their ****ing act together, but even then
