219 players played in the Premier League this weekend. Only seven of them covered more ground than Özil and only eight of them sprinted more. None of those 7 or 8 started in midweek while Özil had a similar work rate for 90 minutes on Wednesday.

This confirms my suspicion that people who call him lazy etc just don't like how he looks. Garry Neville basically admitted it on Wednesday as well.
Haha yeah if he's lazy then he'd never touch the bamba as much as he does.

Yeah well the comp is a joke, so I don't mind the proposal per se, but obviously if it's being used as some kind of feeler for the B league, it's just something that needs nipping in the bud.

He's just quite poor at pressing. I think that generation doesn't really appreciate pressing as a skill and reduces it to "trying hard". Players that are good at it are unfairly cast as honest workhorses, and players who are bad at it are unfairly cast as lazy (like Ozil). Also it's assumed, as with Balotelli, that even if you've never done it for your entire career you can immediately become good at it just by trying a bit harder.

Indeed, sets a dangerous precedent. It will also do actually no good whatsoever, I mean anyone who has ever been to a tin of paint cup game knows that they are little better than a friendly.

Only time a paint pot game becomes interesting are if your own team puts in a few kids so you go to watch them or if you fluke it to the latter stages and suddenly Wembley is a few games away. Other than that nobody cares.

Dangerous game but I'm happy for Southampton tonight. Felt awful celebrating their defeats. Arsenal 3rd, Southampton 4th would be incredible.

Maybe premature but I don't really see them challenging for 4th at this stage. They're behind the other three in form, quality and league position. All they have going for them is their remaining fixtures.

They are clearly the good guys here. Arse have poshtwat fans that communicate their displeasure with being the country's third best team by holding up homemade A4 banners and throwing red wine. Liverpool have sentimental fans that turn everything that happens to their club into a four-act Greek tragedy #YNWA. Spurs have entitled fans that boo the team off at half time if they're only winning 1-0 at home to West Ham. United are like an incompetently-run evil empire, and their success would feel like the triumph of raw money over sound management and on-field innovation. They're all like farts- you don't mind your own despite the fact that you know objectively that it smells terrible, but everyone else's are just ****ing brutal. Only Southampton can save the Premier League's soul.
