Just what is Karn Sharma doing in the Indian Test XI? He's a complete waste of space! I can name five spin bowlers who had a better domestic season than him, but the selectors inexplicably gave him a go. For what? Surely not batting, because he was safely tucked in at eight. Both Jadeja and Ashwin, in this XI, were better choices. You have to play your best spinner!
Shami has fallen away so drastically, it is alarming. Not too long ago, he was their best pacer. Player management needs a shake-up, as much as the bowlers. They lose a decent pacer like Shami, persist with a non-performer like Ishant and rush in Aaron when he's not even fully ready, and bench Umesh, who's actually played a lot of active cricket and had form on his side! The bowling has given the match away, and let scorecard pressure crush the batting, and needs to be overhauled. The absence of Pankaj Singh doesn't help either.
I'm not sure Bhuvneshwar can be trusted on these wickets. He's incapable on anything that doesn't seam and swing drastically, and his declining ODI figures point to it. But he's a better choice than Karn Sharma.
Batting should stay the same. Rohit may have his problems, but if he can complete 25-30 overs an innings, instead of making pace bowlers do that, he's useful.
