***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

As an Indian fan disappointing considering Kohlis heroics but no where near as sad as Johannesburg and Auckland. Australia gave generous declarations our bowlers stunk the whole test. That wasn't the case in Jo'burg

You would think a guy averaging almost 60 domestically in the Indian circuit would have boatloads of patience and temperament.
There is just lightyears between knocking off runs in some outback place in domestic cricket or being on the biggest stage representing your country and the kind of mental travails of a test match.

India need to replace him if there is someone better equipped which there probably isn't or else persevere with him. Bell (as stupid as that sounds) should be the template for India and Sharma. Not everyone can be Kohil, Dravid or Tendulkar. Sometimes it takes time for people to adjust mentally.

Raina ain't gonna do ****. Rayudu? Whoever.

I've been at this thread for the last couple of hours and good on both sets of fans for keeping the discussion on some of the poor decisions today civil. Compared to some other forums and past incidents...

In fact the discussion here helped counter the anger I felt towards Erasmus by reminding me both sides copped bad ones. Made me remember too just how hard is umpiring. However the errors emphasise the case for DRS imo. Would've hated to see this great match played with the memory of the fallen Hughes in heart and mind made toxic by complaints over umpiring.

This game ran contrary to some old clichés about both sides with some Indian batsmen playing the short ball so well and who would have thought the best slow bowler in the match would be an Aussie.

I don't see India capitulating like they did in England. (Anderson's mind **** backed up by superb bowling skills was one on the best examples of mental disintegration the game has seen).

The next test will see India with their captain while we'll be without ours. That is a major turn around right there and would account for the margin of victory in this game and then some. I agree with the poster who said India should go with Ashwin and Jadeja. I'd drop Shami for Yadav.

Lastly I hope Clarke isn't serious though with the constant injuries and the loss of Hughes you could understand why he might be speaking from an emotional place. For both reasons he probably needs an extended break. Australia needs to let him go for a while just for the chance to have him back again, hopefully by the middle of next year.

I've only felt sadder maybe when Sachin scored that 136. Joburg was terrible, but in the end, it was a relief that we escaped with a draw. Auckland wasn't painful really... we conceded a ridiculous lead and though we turned it around, I never really believed we could win it. Wellington probably the worst one of all, but just the fact that this was an Australia test made it feel bigger and made me want the team to win it more. Really really depressing, especially as it's coming on the back of those other near wins. Just another one to add to the list. Keep getting close and letting it slip. :(

Just what is Karn Sharma doing in the Indian Test XI? He's a complete waste of space! I can name five spin bowlers who had a better domestic season than him, but the selectors inexplicably gave him a go. For what? Surely not batting, because he was safely tucked in at eight. Both Jadeja and Ashwin, in this XI, were better choices. You have to play your best spinner!

Shami has fallen away so drastically, it is alarming. Not too long ago, he was their best pacer. Player management needs a shake-up, as much as the bowlers. They lose a decent pacer like Shami, persist with a non-performer like Ishant and rush in Aaron when he's not even fully ready, and bench Umesh, who's actually played a lot of active cricket and had form on his side! The bowling has given the match away, and let scorecard pressure crush the batting, and needs to be overhauled. The absence of Pankaj Singh doesn't help either.

I'm not sure Bhuvneshwar can be trusted on these wickets. He's incapable on anything that doesn't seam and swing drastically, and his declining ODI figures point to it. But he's a better choice than Karn Sharma.

Batting should stay the same. Rohit may have his problems, but if he can complete 25-30 overs an innings, instead of making pace bowlers do that, he's useful.

Rohit definitely shouldn't be dropped. His second innings approach was extremely disappointing with the constant sweeping, but he needs more opportunities. The problem is that he's constantly been in and out of the team. Give him a full series here and I'm sure he'll get some important runs somewhere and go from there.

I don't think India have much to be upset about, obviously it sucks to lose, particularly when you got so close, but no way did I expect them to do as well as they did in their first Australia test. Was predicting a battering. They should improve as the tour continues, though obviously facing Johnson on the pacy pitches to come will be the true test.

Thats precisely what Kohli pointed out and there was no sense of disappointment in his post match interview.

This guy also pointed out, during the SL ODI series at home, how he wanted to step up and perform as a skipper before asking others to do so. Looking forward to see this guy being named permanent skipper in future.

saha is getting a pretty easy ride in here, his dismissal was by far the worst. after those first few boundaries he hit they only needed 60odd off about 22 overs and with kohli at the crease they could've coasted home, absolutely no need for it.

and ****s who are saying the sharma over ashwin selection was a dud because ashwins batting is better are having a laugh surely. you don't pick one spinner over another becuse he might be able to hang around for a few overs late on day 5. I'm not sure it was the right decision but if it was wrong it's because ashwins the better spinner not their batting

and while india put in a good show here the gabba is going to be a different story, just about the quickest pitch in the world now and it'll be gr33n, backing MJ in for a tenfa

it's also not the place to be playing raina

Overall this was a game without winners since I don't think anyone really played great cricket. Match was judged by the umpires.
