But it does surely? Half a ball is the limit of the prediction meaning that they feel the prediction is accurate to a quarter of the ball?
Impressive stuff from Latham. Happy for the NZ fans.

How was Ehsan Adil?
His first spell wasn't bad but he dropped his pace significantly after that.
Rahat was absolutely superb. There's little wonder he's taken more wickets than Johson, Siddle, Southee and Boult. He bowled brilliantly and was very unlucky not to have a wicket.

Taylor was fantastic in toughing out the Rahat and Babar spells. Had Anderson or Neesham come in against that they would not have survived.

Yeah, so fantastic that he coughed up about five chances, was lucky to not be bowled leaving one and never looked settled at all.

Latham has once again impressed and everything looks rosey for him right now...but i'd still urge caution because as we've seen with the likes of Kirk Edwards and Kieran Powell, cricket can be an easy game until you find yourself on them seaming tracks with quality quicks running in at you...
.
Tbh we've struggled to find openers who would score runs even on flat tracks, so Latham is already a big step up from that. I do think he has what it takes to score runs in all conditions but yeah it's something he'll need to prove. He has scored some fighting half centuries against the best of our domestic attacks in seaming conditions when everyone else was struggling. We'll see if he can do the same at the top level.

I'd love to see him bag a double here.

He does average 43 in first class domestic cricket so it is obvious he is no mug. Who was out last opener that also averaged 40+ in domestic season?
In a season? Fulton on return to the side. In a career? Mark Richardson.

Well Guptill averages 42 for Auckland. I suspect probably quite a few people?

I actually think Shoaib is a bit under-rated by serious cricket analysts (although obviously over-rated by some fanbois). He didn't really have a sustainable bowling style (or personality) but when he was fit and on the field he was genuine quality, not just a speed gimmick.
But he wasn't there a lot on the field! Missed more matches than he played. Kambli was value for money the little that he played.

Kambli is one of the great what-ifs considering he was never given another extended chance in the test side after his slump... but then with India boasting one of the best ever batting line ups of all time during his timeframe, it's a hard ask to get back in when you give away your position.

Sadly I didn't see much play yesterday, so can't comment much apart from to say that I'm hugely impressed with Latham. Particularly his composure, patience and ability to tick over the strike.

In some countries Latham would be seen as a future Great:p,glad that not happening here.Anyway great stuff from Latham showed the Aussies and other foreign batsmen up at such a young age.And my hope is he goes on. with it.

Good that Latham hasn't carried his Flemingesque FC conversion rate into rest cricket.

Was my only worry with him, but even then I'd settle for an NZ opener with a bad conversion rate ...,

If 5 years ago you asked for our middle order Corey and neesh would definitely not have been anyone's guess. I would have assumed Ryder and Hay would have those two spots sewn up.

Kind of wishing we had Brownlie at 5 or 6 not that he would have done well against spin mind.
If Brownlie was playing he'd have opened and McCullum would've been at five. I can see the argument for that being better than the current lineup.. but the selectors still seem to think Rutherford is a better batsman than Brownlie, in which case the current lineup is definitely the way to go.

I've been on record for not really getting the calls for a Brownlie selection, but even if I rated him he's not more likely to score runs than Anderson or Neesh on this particular tour.

I don't think he's done enough opening this season to be considered for that spot unless I am mistaken
That's the exact sentiment from Hesson - he was still considered a middle order option for NZ and would not be considered an opening option until he had some domestic success there.
