yeah bugger.

I thought he did well to survive that long tbh. That was some real testing stuff from Rahat in particular. lucky that Anderson won't have to face the reverse but the new ball is coming too.

Looks like a good day from Latham, glad to see it. Ideally we'll want 500, so fingers crossed that he can push on with some support from Corey, Jimmy and BJ.

Pretty sure the last NZ opener to bat all day was 2m Peter against England but when was the last before that? I'm guessing you'd have to go back to Mark Richardson scoring 76 or so

I think Tim McIntosh did it once in India in 2010. Brendon McCullum also obviously batted a very long time for his 2xhundred in the same series, though I'm not sure if it was an entire day.

Well that was more like it from the kiwis aye? :D Tbh i'm glad to see Pakistan under a little pressure in these conditions...it's all well and dandy leading from the front, but the real sign of a quality side is how you respond when you're under the cosh...the likes of South Africa have shown time after time in recent years that they are made of stern stuff...but it remains to be seen how Pakistan respond if they find themselves with a 500 run defecit to negotiate.

Latham has once again impressed and everything looks rosey for him right now...but i'd still urge caution because as we've seen with the likes of Kirk Edwards and Kieran Powell, cricket can be an easy game until you find yourself on them seaming tracks with quality quicks running in at you...

In closing clearly NZ are in a good position but we all know how funny this game can be..two quick wickets in the first three overs tomorrow and suddenly it's 255/5 and 400 looks a mile away. Tom and Cory will have to be smart and just see off the first spell with little damage and then go from there..470 has to be the minimum amount the kiwis aim for imo...anything below 400 then it really would be game on.

That was the most luckiest 20 odd you'll ever see a batsman play from Taylor. Horrid touch, maybe this will inspire him to actually do some training before the next series.
