They are just measuring the flex in someones elbow, this is not ground breaking technology or rewriting biomechanics, this type of research has been carried out for decades in many sports, its not a big scientific breakthrough.

Oh really? I never heard Hitler checking out the kink in Jesse Owens's legs in the 1936 Olympics. What ancient technology are you on about?

I think it's called a protractor. Get a still image of a bowler's action, print it out, stick your protractor onto the image then bob's your uncle, fanny's your aunt and you know the angle of the kink. It's all basic geometry, innit. Simple as that.

And neither am I being obtuse...

I thought UWA had a dispute with the ICC because of something to do with their research patent being breached and the ICC went and spread their methods elsewhere or something like that, I don't think it's simply sour grapes that this latest complaint stems from

TNT, peer review is about opening up research to the entire scientific community, not useless cricket boards.

So, if, as you say, you are for peer review, then why do you think UWA (or any other such organization) is not entitled to ask for the testing protocols?

got any sources for this, out of interest?
To say 'anyone' was a bit misleading on reflection, the only one I know of who has faced him with and without the brace was Micheal Slater in this video (skip to around 7:40), probably not the greatest bit of evidence tbf

if it isn't open to peer review then it isn't worth anything. peer review is the difference between being published in a real journal versus being published in what your doctor wont tell you!

no it doesn't, it clearly says that either the ball release point, or the positioning of the markers wouldn't account for the extreme breakout of 15 degrees

the only part is if based on 2d footage testers are encouraging the bowler to use more of a throwing action to replicate the look of that. surely one of the bowlers would have objected if due to this they were encouraged to use more of a throwing action so far removed from their regular action.

An easier solution will be to employ Mr. Hair and Dr. Velocity as the 2 field umpires and revert back to the old policy of umpire's calling. In case of any technical / visibility / moral / ethical / religious difficulty they can refer to the third umpire jonbrooks.
**** off dickhead. never mention me.

The SL management was considering a complaint after Senanayake got banned cos the spin coach reckoned he was being told his action (which they felt was normal) wasn't replicating his match day action. The issue is that certain deliveries get reported, and they get asked to replicate those during the tests from what I can tell, and those actions might be more dodgy than normal, certainly in Sachi's case when he was chucking really badly on some occasions in an effort to change his length at the last minute and he was probably being reported for those deliveries and possibly asked to replicate them, which might have caused a bit of confusion. Can't be sure though, information is never made freely available about this stuff.

this is the very reason why bowlers who are not reported should be tested as controls. iMO, the effort balls of majority of bolers go beyond 15 degrees.

Actually being serious , his on field behaviour was exemplary - despite all the barracking he got when he played away from home his response was to greet it with a smile and then proceed to rip through the opposition..great ambassador for Sri Lanka and cricket in general...
Except in Australia where he got hammered to kingdom come. He got so upset he snatched his cap of the umpire and flipped the crowd the bird! Yes, superb ambassador.

Is all that ****ing maters and no amount of bleating about him on a forum is ever going to change those little facts.
No Adders, as everyone on CW knows, the only thing which matters is how you perform in India, no matter how ****house their Test side is. That's the real test of a cricketer.
