Jonbrooks chucking Megathread

No real excuse for the original post, but as a kiwi he's probably spent his whole cricketing life listening to Bryan Waddle's close-minded "I know what I see and no science will make me think otherwise" views on the radio repeated ad infinitum, so getting some balance isn't easy....
The science is flawed because previously cleared bowlers have now been found to be chucking. Also cricket is NOT played in a lab.

Either way I still think the affect Murali has had on SL cricket is more positive than negative. Plus he seems like a decent bloke.
The 15 degree rule is something to use for now and they have to police it as best they can, from now on.
Yes Muralitharan has been awesome for SL cricket, especially their spinners. That is why CA spin coach said over 90% of SL spinners are chucking the ball.

If anything, the current testing protocol sounds poorer and less scientific than what was used in the Perth facilities.

This is obscured further by the fact that the current testing has not been made public and no-one seems to have access to it.

90% huh? That's a nice stat to bring up. :/
Anyway, the best spinner in the world at the moment, in my opinion is from SL and doesn't have a flawed action. Also, I'm of the belief that Murali chucked it, but what I was meaning was the positive affects he's had on SL cricket outnumbered the numerous negatives imo

Herath is an excellent spinner with a nice action.

unless you or science proves that bowlers with normal actions are legal during match conditions your theory is horse ****.

I'm unsurprised that the ICC have gone this way. It's been known for over 10 years that the biomechanical modelling required to do in-game testing to scientific standards needed research but without actual real-deal dollars, the UWA obviously aren't going to do it. The ICC essentially responded to Elliott's review in 2006 with "He's a witch!" and have instead taken the existing methods, are likely doing them wrong but have cloaked them in secrecy so we'll never know for sure.

I dunno who the first will be to take them on but I doubt I'm going out on a limb in saying that the first guy to sue after being thrown out of the game may just get up. One wonder who the new testing providers are and whether there's any relationship to individual ICC persons too. The whole situation smells.

Where were these tests done? During a game? Oh, a lab. I didn't know cricket was played in a lab ...
so i take it you dont accept the results that showed Satchi and Ajmal threw as they were done...in a lab..??you cant have it both ways mate

Why I'm doing this I don't know, but here goes...

Why am I trolling? In light of all the recent reports of chucking it would be fair to say Muralitharan got away with it.
Well his tests showed both deliveries under the current tolerance range so I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion

The brace tests merely showed that Muralitharan was capable of bowling legally. In no way does it prove he wasn't a chucker. There is a difference between a flawed action and someone who chucks the ball deliberately.
Yet he was still able to bowl the same variations at similar speeds and anyone who faced him with the brace said it was like facing the same bowler

Cricket is not played in a lab.
unless someone tests negative that is, then we can take the results seriously, also you continue to ignore the big effort they make in the lab to force bowlers to replicate match deliveries

There are some dodgy actions floating around the youth and domestic scene but guys like Herath, Ajantha Mendis and Dilruwan Perera (ie the guys playing international cricket) all look very clean

On what basis have you made the claim that they are likely to be doing them wrong.

Best thing about Murali is that he smiles a lot
Actually being serious , his on field behaviour was exemplary - despite all the barracking he got when he played away from home his response was to greet it with a smile and then proceed to rip through the opposition..great ambassador for Sri Lanka and cricket in general...
