I'm sensing something from Taylor. Those last couple of catches were pretty impressive after 135 overs at first slip. Now for the marathon batting effort. Our 3rd innings history doesn't fill me with confidence.

I hope so. Also, Rutherford had bloody better do something this innings.I'm sensing something from Taylor. Those last couple of catches were pretty impressive after 135 overs at first slip.
If you're going to pick one you pick Sodhi. Craig wasn't a threat whatsoever on this pitch, atleast Sodhi can still take wickets when the pitch isn't suiting spin.Credit to Sodhi. Still bowls a lot of crap balls, but looked a lot more dangerous than Craig.
My opinion about NZ playing two spinners hasn't changed. The pitch needs to be the most ridiculous turner in history to justify it. Even then I'd think twice.
Which spinner you choose is a whole other question.
'There's every chance McCullum may bat at No 5,'' Littlejohn said.
''Mike has some pretty strong views about where he believes Brendon is best suited. We've had some preliminary discussions. Nothing is locked and loaded but it's definitely under consideration,'' he said.
yeah, especially with Williamson in the side.If you're going to pick one you pick Sodhi. Craig wasn't a threat whatsoever on this pitch, atleast Sodhi can still take wickets when the pitch isn't suiting spin.
Yeah I agree, but Hesson would've had to sign off on this too.It was much more Hesson than McCullum who developed the strong aversion to the idea though, imo Cribbage. As long as Hesson's there, you won't get your ideal XI.
McCullum had his manager saying it was ridiculous that he wasn't opening, back when Nicol was doing it in 2012.
Who would you play as fourth seamer?Craig is the far better bowler when the pitch is turning, and as far as I'm concerned New Zealand shouldn't be selecting a specialist spinner at all when it isn't.
I don't think he did, Brendon was desperate to go back up the order as he felt he had been wronged by John Wright, so Hesson just pushed Flynn.Yeah I agree, but Hesson would've had to sign off on this too.
Sorry, who is this aimed at? And who went nuts & got aggressive with who? Why do I get the awful impression this is aimed specifically at one of us and the aggressive & more personal post seems to have been conveniently ignored? Especially considering I choose NOT to get personal and remained relatively passive if you read that whole interaction. No problem with the modding, but for heavens-sakes, be consistent. You say it cuts both ways yet it's interesting that of all the recent posts, you choose to quote that innocuous post above, and not the aggressive and personally one. Please make this clear so we know who has supposedly gone over the line.People don't have to be mods to call out what they think is **** posting.
I'd remind everyone, though, that that cuts both ways. Go after people aggressively because you think they're being dumb and you should expect to see similar in return. This thread has probably been under-moderated thus far (frankly, because most of us have better things to do) but that's not a license to go nuts on people you don't like.
I think I'd just play both Neesham and Anderson. I've been a big critic of Neesham's bowling for longer than most, but between both of them and Williamson you've got enough variety and options to make sure none of them are over-burdened on the bowling front and I certainly don't think you lose anything by not playing a spinner, as Williamson's realistically as good as any as long as he doesn't have to bowl long spells (which he wouldn't with six bowling options on a pitch that wasn't taking turn). I'd revise this policy if someone like Henry or Milne began to really demand selection as well as maintain fitness, but for now I think it'd probably be the best balance when turn was unlikely for the whole match.Who would you play as fourth seamer?
By "this", I mean this innings. Hesson would've had to sign off on McCullum's move to open right now.I don't think he did, Brendon was desperate to go back up the order as he felt he had been wronged by John Wright, so Hesson just pushed Flynn.
