Correct, 7th April1987?
Quite rare to have two openers and a keeper in the top 7, as well as a balanced attack in the top four.My son's team (Oct 2002) is a hell of a line up:
Hayden (1)
Dravid (5)
Lara (6)
Tendulkar (2)
Inzamam (4)
Ponting (7)
Gilchrist (3)
Pollock (3)
Warne (4)
McGrath (1)
Murali (2)
Strangely short of pace quality with Waqar down at 8 the next highest ranked quick but damn that battling line up would take some knocking over.
JBMAC posted his side in the other thread. WasYou lot do make me feel old (yes Fred, even you). April, 1957:-

Come on JBMAC, don't leave me as the elder statesman.
Would be if he'd selected two openers.Quite rare to have two openers and a keeper in the top 7, as well as a balanced attack in the top four.
Dravid opened. Not nearly as often as he batted 3 admittedly, but enough to reasonably take the spot. He opened more than any other position apart from 3 and scored 4 test tons opening.Would be if he'd selected two openers.

1966?One of the older members it seems.... I think I can pick the top 6 batsmen and the top four bowlers without any compromises to find a decent mix, though Trevor Goddard will be a bit unfamiliar batting at 8....

Some team that. Great bowling line up. Can take wicketkeeper of choice with them having the same ranking.
Obviously left out 6,7 and 8th bat to pick an opener of the time.
lol. almost hard to believe.

Wonderful batting. Rich variety in spin bowling. Fast bowling probably the weaker suit.
Amazing to think these guys were all in their prime 23 short years ago.
Surely not?!Marks
Well, I am basing his selection on picking the highest ranked spin bowler. If I was to go with the 4 highest ranked bowlers regardless of team balance, then Lawson would be in. But yeah, I was a bit shocked to see him ranked above Qadir.Surely not?!
Yeah I knew he wouldn't actually be in the top four bowlers, but even so the bloke took 11 wickets in 6 Tests at an average of 44. He never took more than three in an innings. I'm at a loss as to how he could've ever been the highest ranked spinner. Are you sure you didn't accidentally have it set on ODIs? He was much better at those.Well, I am basing his selection on picking the highest ranked spin bowler.
