Sorry thought you were referring to Senanayake ...well batted thirri. He is being groomed as sangas replacement so is much more comfortable in the middle order than up top...

Gurney ain't a good fielder at all. Credit for him going for the ball still to be fair, he must know he hasn't got a good pair of hands.

SL are bent on taking this till the last over so Eng in with a chance till the end.
You're fine. It'll be done and dusted with a couple of overs to spare.

Which does highlight the folly of England not batting out their 50, especially the idiotic running out of Jordan.

Yeah that was so braindead. I felt 230-240 was a good score. Another 20 runs would be diamond.

Don't have a problem with the run out in the sense he was clearly warned and it's legal to attempt it.

Only issue I had was it looked to me on the replay like the "bowler" was in his delivery stride when he ran him out. If he wasn't in his delivery stride, he was about to bowl a very dodgy no ball. Actually didn't think Buttler was advancing on the run out ball, rather the bails were taken off so late he'd left his crease by that time.

Anyway, hardly a big issue. The kid who ran him out has had his action reported, so this may end up, quite rightly, being he one thing he's remembered for.

Sri Lankan well deserved series win. 3-2 flatters England a bit I think, whilst we deserved to win both games but they are clearly a better team than us by a considerably way. Think they'd win 7 of 10 if we carried on.

Delivery stride rule doesn't apply in international cricket; there's a specific playing condition that was brought in to stop non strikers stealing several yards at the end of T20Is and the like - the wording is:

"The bowler is permitted, before releasing the ball and provided he has not completed his usual delivery swing, to attempt to run out the non-striker. Whether the attempt is successful or not, the ball shall not count as one of the over. If the bowler fails in an attempt to run out the non-striker, the umpire shall call and signal Dead ball as soon possible.

Also, worth trying to cut off that late cut from Thirimanne?

You'd think so. Our batting has only really shown up once out of the four matches when we needed to build something substantial. And the bowling simply isn't penetrative enough to compensate for the 4 and 2 part-timers attack.

The rules were changed so that as long as you hadn't completed your bowling action you could mankad. So being on delivery stride is irrelevant.

SL should aim to finish by the end of the 49th over.. 15 runs from 2 overs should be gettable.

Cheers. Makes sense.
