Really love that shot from Dravid there. That is the modern way of playing a ball on the stumps. In the 80s you would put your bat and pad together (and some players such as tim mcintosh still do) most players including ross and Kane follow Dravid's example of bat in front of the pad. That said I love watching defensive shots.

Will do. I'm brown as well which helps. #melanin

@Jono - as I indicated to Dan in the crabs subbie I will probably take a day off to join you and Dan at the test. I just need to find out if I can get the time off first and will message you both next week.

Thanks

What's a "crabs subbie". Is it a seafood sandwich?

No ****. I once got sun burnt watching a test at eden park when I was sitting in the stand (and in the shade) all day! Just from the reflected UV!

My wife warned me when I moved to Colorado that I needed to use sunscreen a lot here because of the high altitude. I've never been sun burnt once, and I've spent whole days in the sun with no protection. If I'd done the same thing in NZ I'd have been hospitalised.

I'll slop up good then.

I'll also put on some suncreen.

Indeed I lived in Canada and I could go out in 30 degree heat in the summer without sun screen.

Looks like any remaining chance Vettori would be available for the India tests is gone now he's become the coach of Bangalore in the IPL... Vettori appointment raises Black Caps doubts - though from another article he might play a couple of ODIs vs India. So there goes the easy solution to the Sodhi vs India issue and it looks very unlikely Vettori will play another test :(

"We" - i.e taking your opinion and migrating it to be the opinion of more than you, because you don't feel safe having your own singular opinion expressed.

You talk about a first class match I attended, without realising I was under Seddon Park with Wheeler and Milne running their bowling drills while a couple of ND A players batted and know exactly what Milne was and wasn't doing in that game. You talk about a guy I was mentoring as a 15 and 16 year old when he was attending Tauranga College, keep in touch with and have even practiced with in the last six months and try to tell me that he has consistency and control over a delivery he doesn't have. You also seem to indicate that there is a common consensus that Guptill isn't worth his place in the side, however the argument here seems to indicate people rate him much more highly than I do.

You then talk about listen and concession, You talk about Wagner as if he hasn't proven something already at test, despite his figures being highly comparable with pretty much every bowler not named Boult, Martin or Bond in their first few seasons and completely disregard the point of which wickets he's taken and when he's taken them. Which indicates to me you're not willing to "concede" and listen, which indicates to me you're not interested in discussion if it contrasts to your viewpoint.

I'm not going to make it personal, but you don't know the difference between swing and seam - not if you think Boult has an inswinger that he can control or if you think Milne has any idea if the ball is going to swing or not when he bowls it.
Just FYI - no one ever suggested Boult's away swing to a right-hander was controlled, in the sense he doesn't land on a dime every time out..but we are saying it's controlled as in delivered on purpose with that shape. You were condescending in suggesting people didn't know the difference between swing and seam, which I'm certain if you were having the conversation with them on the bank at a Test match you wouldn't do - you'd be more reasoned. Try it, you'll feel like a better person. And your mention of it not being controlled appears to me to be a concession that he was swinging it - and we all picked it being swing and not seam.

Your Wagner opinion is your Wagner opinion, it's valid. People have their own. Neither needs to be conceded. The sky is definitively blue; Wagner is not definitively a genuine Test great nor a complete bum. Opinions. I'm sure as long as we all keep personal clashes out of it, we can all get along

I keep telling you gents, it's been an accepted fact for several months that Dan Luka has played his final Test. Achilles and 34-year-old sportsmen do not mix well
