Maybe, but if you look at the times Bresnan's made a score that statistic isn't quite so impressive: 90 against Bangladesh, and another 90 and an unbeaten 50 against India when the series was already won. Broad, otoh, has made scores against better attacks and in more challenging situations.Yeah, unlike Broad and Swann hs actually has the ability to build an innings. He's never actually been dismissed in the 36-89 range ever in test cricket. All his scores above 35 have ever been not out or 90's. Whereas Broad and Swann are much better for a quick 40 or whatever. He's probably not as naturally talented as them with the bat, but he has a somewhat solid technique and can make a decent amount of runs in an innings when he gets set.
That being said, he's doing an important job this morning. And Cook & Flower agree with you, so I'm not going to push the point.
