Well played India, least we had a good game this time. Hopefully the last 2 of the series will be nailbiters too.
India captain Mahendra Dhoni questioned England's attitude following his team's five-wicket win in the third one-day international that secured the series.
Some England players were warned about behaviour in Monday's second match but the aggression continued in Mohali.
"A bit of chit-chat is fine, that makes the game interesting," Dhoni said.
"You don't always want a friendly series, as long as things don't get too personal but I think they should change the plan for the next two games."
Dhoni also intimated that England had been arguing amongst themselves during their latest defeat, which ended skipper Alastair Cook's unbeaten run of three one-day series victories
"It's very important to be nice to your fellow team-mates," Dhoni said. "There were lots of gestures flowing around in the field when it comes to the England side.
"When you are under pressure, most of the individuals will definitely commit mistakes.
"These are the things that really shape the character of the side. I think their strategy is not working. That's what's happening right now."
England arrived in India full of optimism having comprehensively beaten Dhoni's team in all forms of the game on home soil during the summer.
However, familiar difficulties with sub-continental conditions ensured they remain without a one-day series victory in India since 1984.
"It's not only about 'giving it' to the opposition. You have to be fair," Dhoni said of the English team's conduct.
"If our players are saying something to the opposition - which happens at times - I don't want them to get really personal or say things that are not within the guidelines."
Is that a record? Remember Ajay Jadeja and Arvinda De'silva going unbeaten for a whole series. Not sure how to use a statsguru filter to get this record.MSD has now scored 250 ODI runs without being dismissed.
that record is held by Mohammed Yusuf who scored > 400 runs without being dismissedIs that a record? Remember Ajay Jadeja and Arvinda De'silva going unbeaten for a whole series. Not sure how to use a statsguru filter to get this record.
I had already said he is not a good option for limited overs cricket, He cannot bowl in powerplays and death overs. Needs to be developed and tried in test matches, he is able to produce some good wicket taking deliveries, but lacks the control required in the shorter format .Yadav did what everyone expected though, was decently quick but sprayed it everywhere and went for runs as a result.
He is in the squad, belatedly, as a replacement for Woakes. Why isnt Onions in the squad?
Pretty sure Mithun won't play tbh. And don't even want him to play.
Aaron should be next in line, but Aravind may get the nod due to variety or Rahul Sharma if it is a Mumbai track which shows signs of turn on Red Soil.
Now that Yadav is injured, Aaron might get a chance to play.
I dont think both Vinay Kumar and Mithun will play in a squad already starved for pace
Varun Aaron should play in place of Umesh for the last two ODIs, and Aravind comes in for the T20I. As for Rahul Sharma, he'd be a better replacement for Jadeja, as he's looked a more interesting and productive player in the Irani Trophy. You can get more out of him. Will be interesting to see which one of Rahul Sharma, Varun Aaron and Sreenath Aravind comes in for the Mumbai match in place of Umesh Yadav.
Want to see how Rahul Sharma does at this level too.
Yeah, I said at the start of this tour I wasn't displeased that he was going to play in these matches, and I actually hope he plays in the last two games, and he carries on proving his inadequacy, and then a line can be drawn through him, other then for t20.Agree with what you say TT Boy but i am glad they picked Dernbach for this series as it has shown he isn't good enough and means he should now be discarded for the future series. Hopefully Meaker will play the last 2 games, I have no idea if he is good enough but these are ideal games to try him out in when the series is dead.
Keep Dernbach as a 20/20 specialist only. It isn't as though we are short of fast bowlers at present. Hopefully Woakes will be fit for the Pakistan tour and get a run in the one day side there.
Pretty sure he was in a Test squad... unless that's what you meant...Yeah, I said at the start of this tour I wasn't displeased that he was going to play in these matches, and I actually hope he plays in the last two games, and he carries on proving his inadequacy, and then a line can be drawn through him, other then for t20.
The way the management were talking the guy up, you even felt they may have picked him in a Test Squad *shudders*
Lol he made the test squad against Sri Lanka at Lords last year when Anderson and Brenan were injured. He did pick up 5 against Sri Lanka for the Lions in a warm up game.Yeah, I said at the start of this tour I wasn't displeased that he was going to play in these matches, and I actually hope he plays in the last two games, and he carries on proving his inadequacy, and then a line can be drawn through him, other then for t20.

How has Dernbach done OK compared to our other bowlers, a 168 average whilst going at 6.54, is not okay in any way.I think the English fans should be a bit patient with Dernbach, if you compare his performance with others in the first 3 ODIs, he has done ok, even Bresnan hasn't performed well, fast bowlers are getting no assisstance from the wicket. Picking the same kinds of bowlers would make the bowling lineup very one dimensional, Dernbach has something different to offer,
he has just played a few games and can be judged only after he plays a fair number of ODIs.
He does need to fine tune certain things, he is overusing the slower one at times, but then he is inexperienced, he will improve with time.
