Thank God for small mercies. The site crashed for a good two hours and it's now about 1:35 in the morning in India. Relax guys, they'll be here tomorrow. It's only one match.
Yeah, found some of the criticisms baffling myself. Some short memories on CW it seems. Strauss has learned from his tardy closures on our 08/09 Windies tour (& maybe from Punter's dallying at Cardiff just afterwards), but the inherent English small "c" conservativeness was rather betrayed by some of the moaning from the cheap seats.Pizzling.
And a good thing that Strauss, unlike many of his team's supporters, knows the value in a well times declaration.
You're still a pack of soap dodgers mate. Always remember that.I believe you should be as graceful as you'd expect your opponents to be.
With that in mind
**** YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
We are the ENGLAND, the MIGHTY MIGHTY ENGLAND
All the non-given plumb lbws in the world couldn't stop us. One ****ing nil!
There's no seat cheaper than mine in that respect. I'm not a great believer in dashing first innings declarations unless there's a special need for it. As it turns out, my misgivings were misplaced, although I suppose if we'd batted longer we might've made them follow on and won that much more easily.Yeah, found some of the criticisms baffling myself. 196 run win suggests we probably had enough to me.

The other mob are just easier to hate ATM.
Yes it was and tbh the old poop shoot would have got even twitchier this afternoon, if we'd have batted for another 15 to 20 overs or so.Pizzling.

It was a small thing - certainly not justifying an entire rant to itself - but i found it unnecessary to interrupt KP's biffing late on day 2. I don't think it's any more conservative to chance your arm with bat or ball, and I think it cost us more runs than gained us time. But like I said, a small thing. If we'd held our catches (and where has that come from, incidentally?) we'd have snagged them for less than 200, and that'd done just as well as an extra 30 or so from Kevin.
I was really thinking of the almighty fuss made by a scrabble playing denizen of County Durham, who seemed to return to these fair shores just to say Strauss had made the worst tactical decision since The Charge of The Light Brigade. There's no seat cheaper than mine in that respect. Hopefully India start this series better for a change than what they have done in the first test in the recent past.
Edit- First Post.
Lords is exactly the kind of pitch that is a slight weak point with us.
.
Said this before the start of the match and sticking by it,Spot on till now.Worried about the Lords test the most.
Not only we start poorly in recent times ,we also have a poor record there IIRC
Actually am not that worried about Trent Bridge though .Indian bowlers should do well there.
