The biggest suprise to me was that India didnt look very good. I dont think England played that well. It certainly was a paddling but nothing to compare to beating the Aussies which is suprising. It has almost been an anti climax
To be fair India deserve some credit, our last 5 wins have all been by an innings so at least they avoided that.

Yeah, we were a level or two below what we are capable of. As were India, of course. But it's hard to see them turning this round in just three days. Especially when you consider Anderon's recent performances at Trent Bridge. Could probably win the game on his own with bat and ball.

If we can fix our issues then it's going to be a long summer for India.

We won by 196 runs despite:

  • Losing the toss and being inserted when conditions were at their best for bowling
  • The entire top 6 bar Pietersen and at a push, Trott, being unconvincing in both innings
  • Anderson bowling garbage in the first innings
  • Tremlett being off colour all game
  • Swann being largely ineffective
  • Dropping 3 slip catches - two of them being off Tendulkar's batting
  • Getting two absolute shockers in the 4th innings

Could end up being embarassing if we sort our **** out

A great bowling effort from all the chaps. Jimmy got the figures, but all three of the support act were very, very disciplined and patient too. Tremmers and Swann will bowl worse and take bags.

Thought it interesting how many Indians got out to poor shots; Dravid, Laxman and (more predictably) Harbhajan all gave it away to lesser or greater extents. Harbhajan's whole innings another entry in his bulging scrapbook of the bizarre, actually. Final session, proper batsman very in at the other end, why not slog a few?

Minor quibbles: three chances grassed again (I suppose technically four if one counts the one from Swann Gambhir underedged onto Prior's fingertips, but that would've been a miraculous take), only two slips and a gully early on (come on) & two stone dead LBWs turned down. Sachin's was bad, but Raina's defied belief. Just out.

@GF-- Yeah, apart from Broad, all the bowlers were nothing anything above average. The fielding was poor and decisions went against England.

It really looks the case that if both teams play to par then England will walk away with this series. One thinks India have to play well and England poorly for them to win Tests. It can certainly happen but England are favourites.

The two main concerns are the fitness of Tremlett and Morgan as a Test player.

I'm being half-serious when I say this but I'm partially convinced Bowden isn't giving obvious lbws on purpose so that he's the talking point of the match, the attention seeking wee ****.

Yeah, the umpiring in this match was of a good standard. And when I can say that and still point to a couple of shockers that could've completely changed the game, well then that really says it all.
Didn't see much umpiring except for Bowden's shocker not giving Raina out. How was Asad Rauf's umpiring?

Watching the highlights - can someone explain to me wtf Dhoni was trying to do when Tremlett got the new ball?

Great win, really pleased for Broad, my MOTM.

Would like to say, because I've got a vendetta against the buffoon, that Bowden did initially make a howler by giving KP out when he was nowhere near the ball, and Swanneh, I think, was plumb against Harbajhan.

Still nervous, we have that "shocking" Test we seem to have each series coming up.

Oh yeah Rauf was superb.
