English Domestic Season 2011

Going to be a tough chase this for Essex, but with Shah, Bopara, RTD, Styris in the line-up it's not out of the question.

So we get Sussex away, they will be too much for us, but decent effort to get to the QF,

Was hoping to get a day off next week to go and watch the Roses match, but I'm a work bitch at the moment. 24 days left till the end of the year though will have to use them at some point.

Ha, would be. ****ing weather.

Colville reckons if the rains stops by one we'll get some play about three, but if it goes on longer she's red rover.
Still get to see an interesting replay of the likes of Flintoff, Tresco, Boucher, Prince, Ntini etc playing U19s

Just discovered the England under-19s keeper is called Ben Foakes. Which means in a few years we could have an England 6-8 of Stokes, Foakes and Woakes.

Sounds vaguely rude as well, which is always a bonus. Could have some interesting commentator slips.

Bell Drummond is quality. I played with him in U10 and U12s district and county and he was two years younger than everyone and the best player by far.

Kid has game, there's no doubt. The poor boy Kelsall at the other end playing a different sport.

Bowling looks pretty friendly tho, it must be said. Bit of shape from Savage, but unthreatening pace.

Williams's gather a dead ringer for Klusener's too; watch the way he pumps both arms before he hits his delivery stride.

This Sam Wood looks decent as well. OTOH Keaton Jennings looks distinctly average, assume he is a batsmen but the coach is his dad...

Thought Subrayen looked their best bowler

Colville said he's been at the Durham academy this season, so presume he'll follow the path trodden by Trott and Kieswetter from the SA U19s to England.

Gifted a wicket as I type; actually might've been the slower one duping Woods.

Always interesting when you see names you knew start to appear on the telly, and I guess it's something I'd better get used to given the job I do now - still, didn't stop my eyes popping out of my head a little to see Jamie Overton in England colours, and clearly deserved as a quick google suggested. Last I heard of him, he was an 11-year-old with anger management issues...

EDIT: Also taking the gloves two summers ago... so how do you go from Devon U15 keeper to England U19 seamer in two seasons, despite being two years underage? Will be interesting to see what he bowls...

Ha, now we know what Peter Burgoyne is doing since he left Port.

That's a sentence that wouldn't have made sense to me five years ago.

Interesting/depressing. Depressing when you see people you got out a few years ago turning out for the county. This isn't as bad because this is distinctly sub-county level.

England have nearly let the game get away from them, with not bringing the spinners on earlier. Should have given the openers 2 overs each, then brought them on.

Good to see Tom Knight into the attack.

Impressed me no end when I saw him play for Derby in the T20 and has got rid of the dangerman here.

Kid has a great temperament for a slow bowler.

Did Colville just say Colchester's in Sussex? Yup, my Sky Plus confirms it.

No, Charles. Essex...
He's just said that, next year on Sky one is Rugby League, catches up with the best of us, I suppose.

Wow that was poor ,all Ball had to do, was take the bails off to get the run out and he didn't realize the batsman hadn't made his ground.
