'Official' Pakistan in West Indies

And it's not that West Indies lack talent. A full strength West Indies side would be fairly competitive in all formats, but moronic selection, injuries, etc. mean West Indies never really have their best eleven on the field.

As for the comparison with Pakistan, I'd definitely have Pakistan ahead. Genuine question - when was the last time West Indies won a test or an ODI series against decent opposition?

Question : Over-reaction much?

Answer : Over-reaction much!
Nah not really. What did I say there that was false?

The two teams selected were poor quality. The ground was ****. And Misbah and Umar went out to absolute stupidity.

Misbah always seems to find the weirdest ways to get out. During the 2007 test series in India, he was run out in a very peculiar fashion. He was well in, but jumped up when the ball was thrown and allowed it to hit the stumps! :laugh:

Remember that vividly. Was an important wicket tbh because he was batting well at the time. I believe they were setting India's target in the 4th innings if I remember correctly.

Misbah just has a bigger heart than the West Indians

Given that this team had quite a few names you didn't know, and that the Windies won, the talent pool isn't that dry, now, is it?
It is.And i will stick to that unless this group of players can seriously challenge Pakistan in the ODI and Test Series.T20s cannot be used to judge a team or player's true potential.

Umar didn't play for the free hit for starters.To say that he doesn't know what a free-hit is absurd,and the fact that the commentators were rambling on about it because he waited a bit was even more silly.Stupid shot,but not one that was played as a result of not knowing the rules,it was just a stupid shot.

As far as the teams being of poor quality,judging them on one T20 is pretty silly.I doubt if this match was even taken seriously by both teams,which was obvious from the level of play.There is no question about the fact that the ODI and Test Series will be better in terms of quality of play regardless of who wins.The crowd and ground were poor,but that's not something that the playing 11 can control.This match wouldn't have looked exciting even if the quality of play was great,since crowds play a large part in the ambiance of a T20 match.By and large,this series is likely to be a snoozefest for the neutrals,but that doesn't mean that the teams are horrible as you claim.It's got more to do with the crowds and ground quality,and the fact that this series suffers from a major decline in adrenalin after the exciting WC.

And yes,i agree with Blaze,T20s should be a WC only event,or if you're going to put them in a series,make it 3 or 5 T20s.Having one T20 is beyond idiotic.

I actually feel happy for Sammy, in that he won a game as a captain. He deserves something good happening to him after everyone calling for his head and saying that his role was to toss the coin (I feel guilty for saying these things as well).

This is the worst international match that I can remember.

Horrible ground. Like a sandpit.

Empty stands for a T20 match.

Two absolutely horrible teams.

Misbah acting like a ****** and trodding on his stumps.

You have a player not knowing the friggin' rules, and trying to hit out thinking its a free hit when it's not.

Disgusting cricket. Won't be watching much of this series if this is the quality.
Harsh but true. I couldn't agree more.

Well, I dunno about others, but I've always maintained that all T20 matches played outside of the T20 World Cups are all virtually meaningless. I would have said the same if Pakistan had won.
50 overs (earlier 60 overs)-->World Cup

20 overs-->World T20

That is the official name. Can't call it a WC when you have it every year or two (2 years from now on). It's just that the ICC needs an "ICC event" every year. Look at the ICC balance sheet and notice the difference in revenue between years when there is an ICC event and when there isn't one. So now we have one every year.

In any case, the World T20 is a mickey mouse tournament. T20 should only be played in domestic cricket. I say this even though England are the so-called world champs in the format.

No one bothered to show up for the 20/20 game, imagine what the crowd numbers for the test series will be. :laugh:

Okay, let's call it World T20. I pretty much agree with your views on T20, not a fan of the format (believe it should have been scrapped after India won the first tournament in 2007 :ph34r:). My point was that the only T20s that matter are the ones played in the World T20. I would agree it's not the most prestigious tournament around - nowhere close to THE World Cup - but I wouldn't go as far as to call it a mickey mouse tournament. It is an ICC tournament after all.

Salman, he waited because he thought it was a free hit. He wouldn't have waited, otherwise.

and what do you expect a one off T-20 right after a world cup with 2 sides trying new combinations, the match maybe of poor quality but your posting in this thread is not much better.

hopefully Afridi grows some sense and plays Hammad in the odi's on the other had Aamer-lite looks quite mediocre struggle to see him lasting past this series.

If Pakistan are hoping that Junaid Khan will turn out to be as good as Mohammad Aamer, they are probably going to be disappointed. In my opinion he should be allowed to play the entire ODI and test series, even if he doesn't perform all that well initially. Shahid Afridi said they were going to use this West Indian tour to test a few new players so I'm pretty certain that Junaid will make both the test and ODI side.

Makes sense to try out some new blokes. Junaid Khan should be given an extended run in this series. I don't see any reason not to

Test cricket should not be used for experimentation IMO, obviously the ODI series is fair game.
