'Official' Pakistan in West Indies

and what do you expect a one off T-20 right after a world cup with 2 sides trying new combinations, the match maybe of poor quality but your posting in this thread is not much better.
So basically everything I said was right? Lol, I'll be sure to sugar coat my criticism of poor quality cricket next time.

Honestly the ground was one of the worst I've ever seen, and the cricket played on it was awful. God forbid this is pointed out.

It's a friggin international match. It's not too much to expect a minimum standard of quality, both in gameplay and location.

I don't see why test cricket should not be used for experimenting players who can do well in that format?
Pick the bowlers who're the likeliest to pick up wickets in the here and the now. Call it experimentation, or whatever you like. In ODI cricket, there are more things to consider like squad rotation/development of younger guys, resting players etc... all those things should not come into the picture when you are picking a Test side.

ofcourse nobody is expecting this to match Pak-Windies 88 showdown but its an over reaction to say that I will not watch this series due to low quality cricket based on a single T-20 game that was just a (not so) glorified warm up to the important stuff. The quality of cricket is hardly top class during the t-20 games that takes place during any bilaterial series and this was no exception Pakistan is coming on the back of 3 highly entertaining odi series and windies are always more competitive at home so I don't know how can you just assume it will be a dud affair.

Because when you add the overall poor quality of yesterday's match (i.e. the fact they were seriously playing one on the worst cricket grounds I have seen in years in front of an empty stadium) you also have the basketcase that is the current situation with the WICB and Gayle, Shiv and Chanderpaul... and then you have Afridi saying he actually wanted to be rested for this series but then changed his mind.

Hardly awe-inspiring is it?

Afridi saying he wanted to be rested but finally deciding to play can hardly be included in the things that could make this series dull.I agree with the stadiums and crowds though. That really does suck.

But like i've said, this series will not attract the neutrals like the England-India series for example.Pakistan fans will be excited because the team is going through good times with new talented players likely to feature in the series,so a Pakistani Fan won't find this series dull.WI fans won't find this series dull either because this is their first home series in almost a year.Despite all of that, the quality of the series will improve. It won't match the India-England series, but writing the series off on the basis of one T20 is wrong.Add to that the after effects of a great World Cup,and this series comes across as pretty low profile.

Look, I like Afridi as captain, but if you think the captain of the team (who doesn't even play test cricket, so fatigue issues should be minimal) coming out and saying he wanted to be rested isn't a sign of how seriously he's taking this series, then you're kidding yourself.

I'm sure the quality of cricket will improve Jono once the ODI's and Tests start. As for the crowd, nobody should get their hopes up.

The quality of cricket is ****.

With 2 **** teams playing there will be loads of **** flying around. Although a match between **** and **** can produce some quality cricket at times but mostly it will be stinky **** though......

I'll follow the test series mainly for the West Indies bowlers and Darren Bravo. A far as a team unit they aren't much but they do have some talented players.

How seriously or not he's taking a series does not predefine the quality of cricket in the series even before one ball has been bowled,or after a shoddy T20.Also,you're the first one to question his seriousness because he wanted to be rested.Someone in his immediate family was ill iirc, along with the hectic schedule of the last year, which is why he wanted to take the series off.But he decided against it after consulting his family. It's not like a gun was put against his head to make him play.Players in the past, even Pakistani players, have requested to be rested for series, and they've been granted the rest. This was nothing extraordinary. He could have decided not to go if he really wanted to.

It hardly brings his seriousness into question. So no,i'm not kidding myself. You just seem to be finding excuses to downplay the series TBH.I can agree with the grounds and crowd bit,but the point about Afridi is downright silly.

I'm praying the curators prepare a bouncy track somewhere for the tests. It'd be insane not too with Roach, Edwards and Russell hopefully all playing

Not Terrible
Pakistan and New Zealand should just tour the West Indies and play each other. I mean if no one is going to show up anyway, we may as well make the games more compettive.
