English Domestic Season 2011

Sussex getting a bit of a pasting at Liverpool. 150 odd for 3 in the second innings, needing another 80 or so to make Lanky bat again. Oh dear.

Quite clearly going down, no idea why some of our fans thought we could stay up this season. Lacking a quality bowler so much, theres just nothing we can do about it.

While I do agree it's most likely Worcester are going to find the step up very difficult, if Moeen Ali, Alexei Kervezee and Daryl Mitchell can replicate their form in Division Two (maybe easier said than done), they could surprise a few of the more fancied sides. The experience and qualities of Vik Solanki perhaps make him the most integral member of the side if they are to survive the drop.

I expect Damien Wright to flourish during his stay and on these pitches that offer a bit of something for him. The rest of the attack may lack the penetration in the top division, and a quality specialist spin option could hurt them till Saeed Ajmal arrives.

Has there been a change to the Bonus points? the BBC website is showing Durham as having scored 7 bonus points so far in their report - BBC Sport - Cricket - Durham's Ben Stokes stars as Hampshire stutter

but according to their table page the points are valid from the first 110 overs, Durham scored 473 from 110.5 overs, so should have got 5 batting points, and Hants scored 294 all out from 83 overs, so that should have been 3 bowling points. Is it a mistake on the report, or has something changed in the rules?

As far as I know, it's an error in the report. Last season the overs where bonus points could be obtained was reduced to the first 110 overs (from 120). I think Hants currently have eight points from this game.

as a glamorgan fan what i want to know is how good is graham wagg, whate pace does he bowl, 80 mph medium fast ?
He's a useful player imo at County level, not just with the ball but contributes with the bat also. A fiery character that when he's pumped, can probably push himself into the mid-80s (mph), but I think generally operates in the low 80's. A useful acquisition for Glamorgan, and will leave a hole in Derbys line-up.

Stokes takes a 6-fer to dismiss Hants, including the last three in one over. I'm told he's grown a fair bit recently and upped himself from medium to medium-fast, which is interesting. In to bat now, 11*.
It'll be interesting to see just how much his bowling continues to develop whilst batting in the top four for Durham. Tough job for such a young kid.

Out of interest, there was a thread recently about Kane Williamson signing for Gloucestershire, IIRC. Does anyone know when he's joining the side?

This week. Everything going to plan he should be available for the next game.

Seems like I missed a decent start to the season. Aigburgh flattening out as usual, will be tough work to get anything now, though hopefully cloud cover will help.

Much as I don't like seeing Yorkshi*e do well, am happy to see Rashid amongst the wickets.

Much more straightforward than I thought, although I still don't think Lancs will be celebrating too many victories in the Championship this summer

Quite, but i think we'll have enough to comfortably stay up looking at the rest of the division. Jimmeh will probably win us at least one game as well.

Clearly, Sussex and Worcestershire are lowering the standard of division 1. It should be limited to 7 teams and the qualification process removed.
