English Domestic Season 2011

Essex are looking in a really good position now. You'd hope that with the quality they have in their batting line-up they could chase this.

Stokes takes a 6-fer to dismiss Hants, including the last three in one over. I'm told he's grown a fair bit recently and upped himself from medium to medium-fast, which is interesting. In to bat now, 11*.
he seems to be having a good day, he's now on 31* from 42 deliveries with 4 boundaries.

Durham going along at runrate of 4, and their lead currently stands at 321. with so much time in the game (and a bowler down) i wonder what lead they're looking for...450? i'd have thought that was more than enough (particularly since Hants may have 1 or 2 who won't bat too...haven't heard whether Cork is back on the field yet...he certainly hasn't bowled any more overs)

just checked Hampshire's twitter feed and they posted this 20 minutes ago

Cork back on the field. Injuries to him & Jones not believed to be serious. Full update at the end of play.

Delighted that Durham chose to bat again to be honest, by all accounts it is a good pitch and Adams and Mckenzie are both capable of batting for more than a day , feel those two will need to do the job though.

Both Stokes and Muchall pass 50s...they're matching each other (both on 51, with 8 four's each..altho Muchall has faced 20 more balls)

Just noticed that Ben Stokes is only 7 runs away from his 1000 first class run

Seem to be getting a hurry on now - 28 in the last 4 overs. Chances are they'll declare some time after tea.

Fifties for both Muchall and Stokes, it really is his day. Stokestats:

19 matches; 994 runs at 43.21; 17 wickets at 32.53.

Muchall is out, caught and bowled by Myburgh. first innings centurian Benkenstein walks out to join Stokes.

they do seem to be speeding up, i dont' mind seeing that at all

and Stokes goes past the 1000 run mark with a 4.

and after an understandable quiet couple of overs after the wicket, they're picking up the pace again, this partnership is 20 runs off 6 overs, but 10 of those have been in the last 2 overs)

Stokes and Benkenstien are really accellerating for Durham now, the 50 partnership has come up in 10.3 overs, but 24 of those runs (4 fours, 1 six and 2 singles) have come in the last 3 overs.

Kervezee out to Rashid and smacks him for 6 over long on. He's on 40 off 41. Rashid responds by having the other batsman Pardoe caught behind. Worcs are now 120/5, only 38 in front.

Rashid 2-34 from 5 overs - never a dull moment.

Still having trouble getting used to Lanky having a 200+ first innings lead - just needs Keeds to outbowl Monty now and our cup will runneth over

Rashid's ripped Worcs a new one, he's taken 11 in the game and they're all out for 137, Yorks have to chase 56 to win.

Stokes gets his hundred, and decides to have a bit of fun, he's just hit Liam Dawson for 5 sixes in 5 balls...will he make it 6 in the over?

edit - it's a single off the last ball, but still....impressive stuff :-D

Double failure for Alex Hales at the still-benign Parks. Appears to have just wandered across a straight one and seen his leg stump go walkabout. Afternoon highlights included Andy Carter giving absolutely nothing away in his 4-fer and Ali Brown taking a one-handed running catch at mid-on, apparently as an afterthought.

Well, those last few overs for Durham may have knocked a bit of the stuffing out of Hampshire, and Durham will hope to capitalise as they've declared on 310 with a lead of 489.

edit - 20 overs for Hants to face tonight i think

Wow.. that would have been something historic. :-O Sobers's 6 sixes in an over came in a County Championship match, didn't it?

Haha, Lyth and Joe Root are getting there in boundaries - 3 fours and a six for Root while chasing 56. Lyth finishes it with his 6th four. Yorkshire win by 9 wickets, amazing turnaround.

Nice to see the resilience of last season is still there. Can only beat what is in front of you ( and i like many expect Worcestershire to go down ) but this has been a great start to the season. 3 wins from safety i guess.
