Emerging.

Looks an awfully long tail batting Cullen Bailey at 7 for this game, has to be said. Chadd Sayers gets a game, though, so that's interesting. He's been dominating for Woodville and can bat quite well. Always good to see Haberfield get a game too but I'd have picked Richardson ahead of him, tbh. The line-up looks bowler-heavy, though, would have preferred to see another bat.

SA's love of injury hacks has bitten them again with Edmonson retiring.

Well Queensland won the toss and bowled so there must be something in the wicket. Barring Rogers all the batsmen out range from somewhat to extremely inexperienced, too. Plus Feldman is a good bowler. I don't think it's that outrageous.
6/21 sounds outrageous to me, to be honest. Either the wicket is borderline unplayable or Vic haven't handled bowler-friendly conditions well at all and I dopn't think you could excuse Quiney, Wade or Finch on the basis of experience alone. Feldman and Hopes are good, solid Shield bowlers who, given, are in-form. They're not genius', though.

I was under the impression that it was 4/21 when I made that post tbh and Wade/Quiney weren't out yet. Not sure if the other two wickets had fallen and I didn't know yet or they fell just after my post. :p

Maxwell to make a saving ton? While siddle keeps working on the all rounder tag with another decent knock?

This sort of game is exactly the sort of stuff which made people view Bichel and Kasper's Shield records with suspicion when people were clamoring for their selection years ago. Yeah they cleaned-up but most of the time, it was on the 'Gabba so there were (rightly) many questions about their bowling in less bowler-friendly conditions.

This is why I reckon guys like Feldman, Walter and Cutting are going to struggle to play higher. Harris is a different case, had the game to take wickets at Adelaide and hence why he was given opportunities fairly quickly up there.

Same old story. The batting will let the team down and the selectors will make blunders by including too many bowlers or bowlers who can bat to a degree.

Edmondson retired :@. Gutted, but Edmondson did say that he will continue to play Twenty20 cricket with the state. I wish he chose to still play the one dayers as well.

Top Cat, didn't you say that Sayers was a ' cookie seam up bowler ' just like his father once? Ridicolous that Richardson has missed out this game. Makes no sense at all. George, Christian and Cassell out with injury just dents that line-up massively, good old SA injury worries. First major injury for Peter George in his short career too.

Mass in the runs again :). Smith and Moffat continually failing to impress unfortunately, I really have no idea on why Smith just can't kick on like Harris did.

Finally, Darren Berry named as the new coach of the Redbacks. Thoughts? Hopefully he is an authoritarian type coach like Mickey Arthur. I think SA could use somebody like him instead of nice guy like Mark Sorell.

Bloody hell, Copeland has bowled 20 overs on the bounce for NSW today. And it looks like Cummins has bowled 13 in one spell as well (the latter being less certain).

Yeah he is and certainly Woodville is good to you if you bowl swing. Like I said, he can bat though.

I'd have picked Richardson for sure. Haberfield is a touch pacier so maybe that's what they're going for. Richardson gets big seam movement, though so, again, I'm a bit surprised they didn't persevere with him. Didn't do much wrong in the games he played.

I really have no idea on why Smith just can't kick on like Harris did.
After seeing him score his first ton for SA, I came in here and said he had a technical problem. The way he's gotten out this season suggests he hasn't fixed it.

Wouldn't surprise me, think he's just become a dad recently. Plus, playing for that SA side would suck the life out of anyone. There are big changes needed at SACA, at top and bottom.

That said, I wouldn't trust anything written by Earle.

So is the SCG a road or have WA just played really, really well?

Also, it's good to see a Gabba greentop favour the home side for a change.

Manou holds key in farewell match against Tasmania | Adelaide Now
Manou retiring?
Crossthwaite to switch to the redbacks according to cricinfo.
Crosthwaite would be a good get for SA - his glovework is real good and his batting has been strong in Sydney grade the last few years, can't really understand why he is behind Nevill and Smith in the NSW pecking order. Assuming Manou's knees must be pretty close to giving up the ghost? A bit suprised he's retiring if thats not the case, but I guess he's possibly also noted how far ahead Paine and co. have moved ahead of him. Chuck Berry a huge Crosthwaite fan too.

Meanwhile, Mitch Marsh has rocked on to his first Shield hundred, well done.
