Noble One
International Vice-Captain
One of the more strange days this season in the Shield.
NSW and Tasmania is the most remarkable looking scorecard at the end of the day. For NSW to be bowled out for 74 and then Tasmania reach 2/204 at the end of play is funny enough. That Nick Kruger has scored 124 runs is even stranger. A very tough situation for Pat Cummins to make his debut in. Good luck to him for the rest of the innings.
Victoria somehow made it to 342. An 82 wicket last-wicket stand killing South Australia. I am interested to see how Jayde Herrick goes after his Wellington experience and reading Jack's knowledge of his bowling style. A very good opportunity for a bowl-off between Herrick and Happy Gilmour. A look at the future of Victorian bowling once some of our older brigade have retired.
In Perth not much to note other than another one-man show from James Hopes. I am most interested in how Junior McDermott bowls in his second first-class game. My favourite of the non Victorian bowlers. I don't buy into Arthur's comments that a major cull of the Western Australian squad will occur. They will cut some of the fringe players, but the real issue is the lack of output from established players like North, Voges, Pomersbach and Ronchi. No way will WA cut any of those names, unless a young-kid is screaming for selection then they will remain. I know Michael Johnson is getting a game over Ronchi today, but does anyone believe that Johnson is a better player or has potential to be a better player than Ronchi? Not me.
