*Official* - Pakistan in New Zealand 2010/2011

Wish we had've batted first. Damn that Afridi!

Southee's off cutter is superb - I made a post here 6 months ago that he needed an off cutter and now he has one. Maybe he has had one all along - but I have never seen him use it as nicely or as consistently as today.
He's always had it. Used it to great effect in his 4fer vs Australia in 2008 or 2009.

If NZ won this series 6-0, would peoples opinions of NZ's World Cup chances be a bit more positive?
Or will our abysmal recent sub-continent results still outweigh such an event?

I'd be pretty confident we could make it to the semi finals if that were the case. Could still see us getting 1st or 2nd in our pool.

I can't see NZ winning 6-0.

If NZ had won the toss, it could have been NZ who were all out for 124 and we'd all be discussing how woeful NZ is.

Pakistan haven't swung it a drop when Southee was swinging it around corners. That's been the difference IMO. Bennett's bowling was great but without Southee taking the wickets he'd never had been put in such a gun position.

Even if we performed well enough to win 6-0 (which we won't, lets be blunt), I'd still be wary. I said during the subcontinental ODIs that we weren't rubbish full stop, we were rubbish in those conditions.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a decent showing in this home series then back to being rubbish in the WC. Against other non-subcontinental sides we'll be okay but Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will rip us to pieces.

No one knows how to implode as well as the Pakistani cricket team. When the going gets tough, they just give up.

Yeah, they're pretty much an all or nothing team atm. An exception being Razzak's innings against SA recently, can't think of many other times they've come back from behind.
